To the Little League Baseball International Charter Committee, January 4, 2018 With the full support of Milford National Lou Gehrig (MNLGLL) and Milford International (MILL) board of directors and their memberships, we hereby propose the merger of our two great leagues under one charter. The two leagues have discussed the potential of creating one unified Milford Little League for a few years. The driving force is to collaboratively create a better overall organization and experience for the youth in Milford rather than compete. The town has unified in other sports including basketball, soccer and football. The combined numbers in Milford will allow for a healthy number of teams in all baseball and softball divisions. We will likely pick up players currently in the Cal Ripken affiliate due to the excitement around our merging proposal as well. Farms and Majors baseball divisions will have enough kids to support two district all-star teams in each age bracket (10u, 11u & 12u) similar to the well-known Trumbull Little League program. However, unlike Trumbull, the current boards and memberships have agreed that they would like to have fully integrated teams for regular season play. In other words, no boundaries in Milford for regular season. For District play, the boards agree to have two teams from each age bracket participate. Those teams will be selected from two distinct and townestablished boundaries in Milford as detailed below. Milford s only Little League Softball program, which is currently under Milford International Little League s charter, will also be part of the proposed unified Milford Little League organization. PROPOSED MERGER DETAILS REGULAR SEASON BASEBALL & SET UP Fully integrated Regular Season with District All-Stars being picked along the boundary lines of the two public high schools, Jonathan Law High School ( Law ) and Joseph A. Foran High School Foran ) o NO boundary lines will be utilized for picking teams for Regular Season play Goal: more unity, fun, friendships as one league o Assuming 10 teams in each of the CP, Farms and Majors divisions, teams will be broken out randomly (1st 5 teams form division X, 2nd 5 teams Y) for Regular Season play o Managers are selected by the Board and should maintain a fair representation from Foran/Law sides as long as there are enough volunteers to support it 1
DISTRICT ALL STARS SELECTION & GRANDFATHERING Two District All-Star teams will be selected for each 10u, 11u and 12u age bracket The Lou Gehrig division will encompass all children who are in the school boundary for Jonathan Law High School. The International division will encompass all children who are in the school boundary for Joseph A. Foran High School. Board selects Managers/Coaches for All-Star teams In order to allow those children who played on district all-star teams in 2017 to continue to be eligible to play with their cohort, we are requesting that the following individuals who fall under the Foran school boundary lines be grandfathered into the Lou Gehrig Division for the remainder of their Little League playing careers. o 2018 League Age 12 Gavin Kaminski (Home Address: 141 Cinnamon Road, Milford, CT 06460) Zach Worzel (Home Address: 11 Platt Lane, Milford, CT 06461) Chase Bryant (Home Address: 500 Orange Ave, Milford, CT 06461) Kasen Lanese (Home Address: 19 Julia Court, Milford, CT 06461) o 2018 League Age 11 Quentin Bell (Home Address: 11 Bedford Ave, Milford, CT 06460) Gavin Winters (Home Address: 36 Driftwood La, Milford, CT 06460) Giovanni Winters (Home Address: 36 Driftwood La, Milford, CT 06460) o 2018 League Age 10 George Ganim (Home Address: 57 Melba St, Milford, CT 06460) SOFTBALL MILL s softball division will be managed under the Milford Little League charter and board Fully integrated regular season as it currently is done under MILL s charter. BOARD OF DIRECTORS We have agreed to a 7-member executive board with 4 from MNLG and 3 from MILL for the 2018 season o Proposed 2018 Board Rob Hoxie (President) Rob Hansen (Vice President) Pat Fallon (Vice President, Baseball) Bill Garfield (Vice President, Softball) Mike Merchant (Secretary) Mark Deitelbaum (Treasurer) Lori Seluga (Player Agent) Board members are eligible for re-election and may serve more than one term. The spirit of the Board will be to maintain fair representation from Foran and Law districts as long as there are enough volunteers to support it. Details of the election process are included in the separately provided Constitution & By-Laws document. LEAGUE NAME & ENTITY ENTITY o Based on discussions with District leadership, the best course of action for the combined entity would be to consolidate under MNLGLL charter and rename the organization to Milford Little League DISTRICT ALL-STAR TEAM NAMES o Both leagues wished to honor their heritage and keep their league names associated with the merged Milford Little League. We collectively came to the solution of using those names to distinguish the two District All-Star divisions. So, while many leagues use the standard American and National, we would like to use the following: Milford Lou Gehrig Milford International Both leagues are very excited to unite and create an even better Little League experience for all the children of Milford, Connecticut. Please accept our proposal so we can get it started! Thank you very much, Rob & Scott Rob Hoxie, President, Milford National Lou Gehrig Little League Scott Griffin, President, Milford International 3
