POWERFUL GENETICS Airlie Merino Stud was founded in 1954. Due to the retirement of previous owners Reg & Pam Power, Airlie has been relocated to Walcha and is being run by Murray & Michelle Power. The foundation bloodline was Egelabra with an emphasis on selecting soft, bright, well nourished wools in order to develop a sheep with lower microns than the parent stud and which was suited to the high summer rainfall environments of the Tablelands and New England Regions. Airlie has been supplying rams to the New England and Slopes and Plains for 60 years. Our goal has always been to breed well balanced sheep that meet the requirements of both the wool & meat industry. Producing white, well defined, deeply crimped and highly nourished 18 19.5 micron wools, on large framed, structurally correct, easy care sheep. Constitution, productivity and wool cut are our number one priorities. We strive to produce early maturing sheep which breed true to type and produce progeny with a low % of culls. We select using both measured and visual traits, most importantly the key profit drivers of wool cut, body weight and micron. Horns or polls the choice is yours. Watch our pre-sale video at www.airliemerino.com.au In 2017 at Sydney Royal Easter Show we won the RAS merino pair of the year for the second time in a row. The ram and ewe then went on to cut a combined total of 23.1kg at 16.6 micron and made over $400 for the two fleeces, placing them first and second in their objective measurement classes. We have exhibited Champion pen of three sale rams at Armidale ram sale for four consecutive years. Affordable good quality grade rams are always available.
