The Feed Bag January 2019 Volume 41, Issue 1 A Diablo Valley Mustang Association Publication A HOLIDAY HAPPENING! By Anne Haugrud Can I just say that DVMA members really know how to party! The tables at La Tapatia restaurant party room were decorated with shiny Christmas trees courtesy of Karen Davis and the gift table was loaded with beautiful and mysterious exchange gifts. Is it true that big things come in small packages or is the bigger the better your mantra for deciding which one to pick? Well, after a wonderful Mexican buffet and made-to-order omelets and waffles (not to mention bottomless mimosas and champagne, woo-hoo!) we began to put our gift -choosing choice to the test. Sally Blackwell was the lucky one to choose the first gift which, according to the Official Book of Gift Exchange Rules (that s a real thing, right?) she would be the one to get the last choice at the finish. Fortunately for Harry (and Karen) the cam shaft was not among the packages. A theme seemed to emerge of quite a few tool sets which hopefully no one will be in need of for their Mustangs this upcoming year! We all had such a great time. I m throwing out the invitation now for next year already! Join the fun next year for sure! Here are some pics of the party-goers... DVMA DISPATCH First off, I d like to wish every Diablo Valley Mustang Association member and family a very happy new year! The old 2018 is gone and I m looking forward to a new and exciting 2019. Is your Mustang a daily driver or a garage queen like mine? Now that the holidays are over we need to get that Mustang serviced and ready to drive. So change the oil, coolants and other fluids to be ready for the 2019 driving season. Check those tires as well, especially on those cars that are not driven every day. Just because there s not that many miles on your tires they still can become unsafe due to old age which causes cracking and deterioration (kind of sounds like me). Speaking of getting ready to tour, our Newsletter Editor has planned a tour to Monterey s Cannery Row and Fisherman s Warf area. This run will be on January 26. We ll meet at Sears Tire Center parking lot in Sun Valley Shopping Center at 9:00 a.m. Fingers crossed that there will be no rain or fog. Traditionally the winter months are the best for avoiding the fog. There is plenty of parking but it is metered. So sign up at the next meeting or let Anne and I know you re coming. We ll be on the hunt for some really good clam chowder (or anything else your stomach is in the mood for) at one of the many restaurants in the area. Something else you should put on your calendar is our Valentine s Ice Cream Run on February 10 to Fenton s Ice Creamery in Vacaville. They serve lunch too. Everyone is invited couples, singles, family, extra friends. No excuses if your Mustang is in pieces daily drivers are always welcome. More info next month. The last club meeting I attended was a couple of months ago and, unfortunately, since then my Hodgkin s Lymphoma has returned and we are aggressively attacking it with chemo. Because chemo kills your immune system I just returned home today from Kaiser WC after four days in the hospital with Double- Pneumonia. All is to say that it will be a while before I can attend functions like the Christmas Brunch, and even club meetings, because of my high-risk status.
