The kayaker was found in good condition and SAR was stood down. LAND 1 1 Whistler SAR member responded to consult with RCMP regarding a report of a missing despondent female in the Function Junction area of Whistler. LAND 1 28 1 20 Sunshine Coast SAR, 3 Powell River SAR, 1 Coquitlam SAR, 1 Lions Bay SAR and 3 North Shore Rescue members responded to search the northwest corner of Sechelt near Kinnikinnick Park for a male with dementia. Subject was located alive on 16 September and placed in the care of BCAS for transport to hospital. LAND 2 21 2 21 Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded to search for two teenage girls who were overdue returning from a hike on Sumas Mountain. Subjects were located in good condition and escorted off the mountain by SAR. LAND 1 5 1 5 Surrey SAR members responded to 64th Avenue and 144 Street to search for a missing woman as requested by RCMP. Subject was located deceased and SAR members remained to await the coroner. CTL LAND 1 37 1 33 Vernon SAR and 4 PEP Air members responded to search for a male reported missing in the Vernon area. Subject was located in the water deceased and SAR members remained until the arrival of the Coroner. 1 8 1 8 Mission SAR members responded to rescue a person that was stranded on a sandbar on the Fraser River. Subject was located and brought to shore by SAR. 5 10 5 10 Ridge Meadows SAR members responded to rescue five people stranded in a boat on Alouette Lake. On scene SAR assisted by providing gas to fuel their boat. VIR LAND 1 13 1 13 Comox Valley SAR members responded as requested by RCMP to search for a run away teenager last seen in the Vanier Drive area of Courtenay. Subject was located alive by SAR and recovered by RCMP after attempting to escape. CTL LAND 1 17 1 17 Central Okanagan SAR members responded to rescue an unconscious 60 year old man under a quad over an embankment at Hwy 33 E and Falcon Ridge Crescent. SAR was stood down on scene because the fire department had arrived and retrieved the subject deceased. 5 8 5 8 Mission SAR members responded to rescue two subjects drifting on a seadoo in the Fraser River by Macdonald Road in Mission. The two subjects and

NEA LAND 1 18 1 18 North Peace SAR members responded to RCMP request to search for a missing 13 year old boy. The subject returned home safe and SAR were stood down. NEA LAND 1 25 1 25 Prince George SAR members responded to search for a missing male down a logging road. SAR located evidence of the subject only. After RCMP reinitiated the request on 21 September with negative results SAR were stood down by RCMP. VIR LAND 1 15 1 6 members of Metchosin SAR and 9 Saanich SAR responded to search for a missing female near the Bay Street bridge in Victoria. The subject was located alive and taken into police custody. VIR LAND 1 6 1 6 Westcoast Inland SAR members responded to search for a lost female hiker in a remote area near Ucluelet. She was located on one of the roads as she was walking out by SAR and turned over to RCMP. VIR LAND 1 43 1 43 Cowichan Valley, Juan de Fuca, and Salt Spring Island SAR members responded to search for a missing female hiker on Mount Baldy. RCMP were contacted by the subject's employer and learned she has walked off the mountain on her own. CTL LAND 1 3 1 2 Barriere SAR and 1 Wells Grey SAR members responded to search for a missing male hiker off Glengrove Road. Subject was located in good shape by SAR. 1 11 1 11 Chilliwack SAR members responded to search for a missing fisherman in the Chilliwack River near the Ford Mountain Institution. On arrival SAR learned from police the fisherman had changed locations and his friends had assumed he had gone into the river. Stood down on scene. LAND 1 20 1 20 Squamish SAR members responded to rescue an injured 18 year old female mountain biker on the Half Nelson Trail in Squamish. SAR brought out and passed the patient to BCAS for transport to hospital. CTL 1 4 1 4 Rescue 1 members responded to rescue an injured male on a houseboat on Shuswap Lake. Subject was examined and left on the boat with his parents who indicated they would bring him to town the following day. 6 6 Chilliwack SAR members responded to investigate report of an overturned boat in the river near Chilliwack Mountain. SAR discovered a derelict vessel had drifted free and no persons were affected. VIR LAND 1 22 1 22 Cowichan Valley SAR members responded to rescue an injured quad rider who gone over a bridge and down an embankment off the Kapoor Forest Service Road in the Shawnigan Lake area. The subject who had sustained numerous broken bones was packaged and transported out on stretcher by

SEA LAND 2 10 2 10 Golden SAR members responded to rescue two quad riders who had gone over an embankment at the 9 km mark on the Peter Evans Road. The subjects were rescued via rope rescue by SAR and passed to BCAS for transport to hospital. CTL LAND 1 1 1 1 Shuswap SAR Manager responded to an RCMP request to search for a missing child in Salmon Arm. The child was found by family safe and SAR was stood down. 2 5 2 5 Ridge Meadows SAR members responded to rescue boaters in distress at the top end of Alouette Lake near Maple Ridge. The boaters were located and towed back to the boat launch. LAND 1 7 1 7 Lions Bay SAR members responded to RCMP request to search for a male missing for over a year on Unnecessary Mountain outside of Lions Bay after some of the individual's personal belongings were located. VIR LAND 2 1 2 1 Nanaimo SAR member responded to search for two lost hikers on Mount Bensen near Nanaimo. Subjects walked out on own prior to SAR initiating call out. VIR LAND 1 14 1 14 members of Juan De Fuca SAR responded to rescue an injured male on the Juan De Fuca Trail. The subject was transported on stretcher by SAR to BCAS. VIR 2 16 2 16 Campbell River SAR members responded to RCMP request for rescue two stranded swimmers in the Lower Campbell Lake/McIvor Lake area of Campbell River. Subjects were located safe on shore after self rescuing. LAND 2 7 2 7 Chilliwack SAR members responded to RCMP request to search for 2 horse back riders overtaken by darkness outside of Chilliwack. WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT 15-21 SEP 2014 FLOODING On 14 Sep 14, the Summerland EPC and Fire Dept responded to 13900 Dale Meadows Road in regards to a culvert that had over 12ft of water being blocked. Debris was removed and there were many houses down from the culvert that the large amount of water could have affected. INTERFACE FIRE On 15 Sept 14, the CRD opened an EOC to coordinate the local response required to address an interface fire on North Galiano Island. MISCELLANEOUS On 15 Sept 14, the District of Summerland opened an EOC to address localized flooding potentially impacting infrastructure and private property on Dale Meadows Road. On 17 Sept 14, a vehicle fire outside an apartment building at 9412 Nowell Street in Chilliwack resulted in an evacuation of 15 units because of smoke and soot damage. On 18 Sept 14, Chilliwack Fire Department responded to rescue a patient behind downed power lines on Chilliwack Lake Road as requested by BCAS. On 18 Sept 14, Fall Readiness Task numbers were generated for the EMBC Regions.
