By Rick Marinelli, Director Hello Storm Riders. I don t know about you, but to me, 2016 blew by. We did over 50 rides, and I don t know how many overnighters. One thing I do know is this. We are the most active H.O.G. chapter in Oklahoma, and that is something we should all be proud of. Chuck Wheeler and his road captains did an amazing job of keeping every one safe from point A to point B. We are looking for a few new Road Captains, because a few have stepped down, wanting to be chapter members and just enjoy the rides. So if you are interested in being a Road Captain, please let me know or contact your Head Road Captain, Moe Jones, and we will discuss the responsibilities with you. I would like to thank Harold Hansmeyer for doing the 50/50 for so many years. He wanted to step down, so now Dave Bergman will be taking that over. If any chapter member is in the hospital, we want to send a card. If any chapter member has a death in their immediate family we want to send a plant or flowers. Cindy Hudson, our chapter angel, will take care of this, so please let her know or you can call me and I will tell her. We had our yearly planning meeting on January 7, 2017. It looks like we are going to have another busy year, with the Rooster Ride June 8 thru June 11, and the LOH overnighter will be August 19th. Watch your newsletter or the weekly emails to learn of any other events and overnighters. by Jerry Jarman, Safety Officer DANG, where did 2016 go? I guess that old saying time flies when your having fun is true! I for one can't wait to see what rides we will have in 2017. Our Annual Oklahoma Highway Patrol Advanced Basic Safe Riders Course has to be changed to a different Saturday than normal because of a scheduling conflict. About 30 members took this class last year. The OHP class allows trikes as well. I will be scheduling the Edmond Police Departments Riders Survival Course Level 2 in the fall again this year as well. The EPD class is restricted to 12 or 14 bikes. Sorry no trikes. It is a faster paced class which means more saddle time on the course to practice. If taken privately these classes would cost you around $200, not to mention the 10 percent discount you will receive on insurance which last three years so check your certificate and keep your discount up to date. Taking a safety class once a year helps keep you from forming bad habits, But the real bonus is that either class will make you a safer rider. Both departments have highly trained Motor Officers that are avid riders themselves. We are pretty lucky in Oklahoma to be able to ride year around, but it does get cold. Plan an extra stop or two during winter riding to ensure you don't end up with frost bite or worse. New Years Day Mystery Ride to Bar H Roadhouse Diner, Seminole The Bar H grill specializes in grain fed beef raised only a mile away from the restaurant. We had 40 people on our annual New Years Day ride. Two cages tagged along behind our 32 motorcycles, as we rode 67 miles to the Bar H Bar Roadhouse at the Seminole exit on I40. It was 60 degrees on New Year's Day which is not bad for Oklahoma. The ride included some really good memories. Road Captains were myself, Jerry Jarman, Ray Honeycutt, and Stan Kilmer. Denise Jones fixed the tailgate black-eyed peas for us and they were delicious. 7 http://www.stormridersok.com.

Leather and Lace Hello Storm Riders, It s hard to believe that another year has passed. I m honored to serve you as the next Ladies of Harley officer for 2017. I received the position in time for our Christmas wrapping fund raiser and I will definitely be more prepared for next year. After a slow start, we raised a total of $1945.00 before expenses. I would like to say Thank You to all the volunteers that helped wrap gifts. I m so excited to take on Ladies of Harley for 2017. I m planning for an exciting year. Our first meeting will be at 6:30 on Jan 24 at Swadley s, 8317 S. Western. We will meet every other month, and have an activity on the months we don t have meetings. Some of the activities I would like to present are Self-defense class, learning how to basket weave a napkin holder, and do a painting class. The one activity I m most excited about is our LOH ride on June 3 rd. We will go to the 13 th Annual Lavender Valley Acres Festival. The highlights of the festival are watching the peacocks preen, belly dancing, live band, tours of the gardens with educational sessions, shopping with local vendors and lunch. Lunch menu is lavender tea, lavender cookies, lavender cake, lavender chicken salad, hamburgers and hot dogs, chips and beverage. We will continue to support Toby Keith s Kids Korral twice a year, during the spring and fall. We will collect toiletries all year long. I hope to make it an exciting year for the Ladies of Harley and will look forward to hearing your ideas for the group. I hope to see you there! Wishing everyone a healthy, blessed and safe riding year for 2017! Diane Loser (Mermaid) 8 http://www.stormridersok.com.

Bo x 7 3 3 7 M o or e, OK 7 3 15 3 Let s meet Storm Riders Chapter, Oklahoma Territory Monthly newsletter Madison s Kitchen 4747 SE 29th Del City 7 pm Wednesday, January 11 Wednesday, February 8 Dinner Ride to Red Robin November 20 It was a nice day for November, but very windy. My group of 10 riders talked it over and decided against fighting those fierce cross winds for 80 miles to eat at Lucille s in Weatherford. It was the consensus that a north/south ride would be much more fun. And, hey, we are definitely in this thing for fun, right?! So, we headed south to Norman to eat at Red Robin, but we went the long way: west to I44, and south to Hwy37, and west again. When we got to Hwy 76, we turned south and rode through Blanchard and all the way to Hurley s Corner, where we rode east on Hwy 39 into Purcell, then north on Hwy 77 to Hwy 9, and then west to Red Robin on I35. Red Robin has a great selection of gourmet burgers, as well as excellent sides, and good service. We all left with full tummies. It turned out to be a nice ride, and most everyone had a good time. Thanks to Moe Jones for running sweep. This is the second time I have tried to lead a ride to Lucille s Roadhouse. Maybe next spring we will try again. 10 http://www.stormridersok.com.
