GOLD WING ROAD RIDERS ASSOC. FL-2D HARBOR CITY BEACON Melbourne, Florida January 2009 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. With all the hustle and bustle of the season we managed to have a couple of good rides in Dec. Thanks to all who showed up for the Toy Run. For anyone who has not experienced it; it can not be explained. It s hard to imagine 7,000 to 10,000 bikes. Not only the bikes; but the characters that show up are fascinating. It s the end of the ride that counts. It s all about the kids. The hayride on the 16 th was great. Everyone that attended enjoyed the lights. We tried our hand at caroling during the ride (think we better keep our day jobs). It is in agreement that there were more lights this year and that it seems to gets larger every year. We had a great Christmas Party!! Even with the last minute change in location. For those that missed this year s dinner, our resident elf had an assist to help with the gift exchange. Looking ahead; we have a couple of busy months coming up. The Chapter breakfast is January 25 th, and we still need people to help in a couple of areas. This is our Chapter fund raiser. Please help, and let Ray Mercier know if you are available. Bike week is happening right after the January Chapter breakfast. We will be selling hot dogs and pork sandwiches this year at Chapter s FL1-H Goldwing Getaway at the New Smyrna Beach Airport on Feb 27 thru Mar 8. The week after the getaway will be the FL District Rally in Kissimmee yew! What a schedule, not to mention fitting in a couple of kicktires and rides. Will see all at January s meeting at the Mighty Mushroom. Ride Safe and Long. Charlotte Meetings - First Tuesday of each Month Currently meeting at : Mighty Mushroom on Dairy Rd. I m Tired! Yes, I m tired. For several years I ve been blaming it on getting older, lack of sleep, weekend projects, stale office air, poor nutrition, carrying extra pounds, raising a family, recent colds, and a dozen other reasons that make you wonder why life is getting rough. But now I found out what s really happening! I m tired because I m overworked. The population of the USA reached 300 million last October. 79 million of the population are retired. That leaves 221 million to do the work. There are 19 million toddlers and 76 million students in schools, which leaves 126 million to do the work. Of that total, 21 million are unemployed leaving 105 million to do the work. Then you take away 34 million in hospitals and that leaves 71 million to do the work. 43 million are in prisons and that s 28 million left to do the work. Now take away 14,683,468 federal, 5,344,722 state and 5,370,743 city workers who run our government and you re left with 2,601,067 to do the work. Take away the 2,601,065 people in the armed forces and that leaves just two people to do the work - You and Me! And you re just sitting there reading this! No wonder I m tired!!! NEWS FLASH! A big earthquake with a strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale hit Mexico. Two million Mexicans have died and over a million were injured. The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't know where to start and is asking for help to rebuild. The rest of the world is in shock. Canada is sending troops to help the Mexican Army control the riots. Saudi Arabia is sending oil. Other Latin American countries are sending supplies. The European community {except France} is sending food and money. The United States, not to be outdone, is sending two million Mexicans to replace the dead ones. God Bless the USA! Come on, its just a joke!

The oldest went upstairs one evening to take a bath. As she was getting in the tub with one foot in and one foot out, she called down to her sisters, "Am I getting in the tub or am I getting out of the tub?" The 94 yr. old decided to go upstairs to see if she could help figure out the situation. She got to the 3rd step and stopped - then called out, "Was I going up the stairs or was I coming down the stairs?" The 92 yr. old, sitting at the kitchen table, thought she better knock on wood, and as she knocked on the kitchen table she said, "I hope I never get as bad as my sisters. Now was that the front door or the back door?"
Safety Educator This month, Mike asked me to include a safety article found in the Motorcycle Consumer News of January 2009. We both agree it is an excellent article and beneficial for all of our members to read. It is my hope that the quality of the copy will be suitable for reading after being converted to the internet. Please check it out on page 12. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and will have an incredible New Year. Richard Mitts. Love the tattoo!.that you Mike? George opened the door to go turn off the light but saw there were people in the shed in the process of stealing things. He immediately phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and George said no and explained the situation. Then they explained that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available. George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them all." Then he hung up. Within five minutes three squad cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed. One of the policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

A Cop pulled a car over for speeding. When the Cop asked the driver why he was traveling 95mph, the driver answered that he was a juggler on his way to do a show for a birthday party and didn't want to be late. The Cop told the driver he was fascinated by juggling, and if the driver would do a little juggling for him that he wouldn't give him a ticket. The driver told the Cop that he had sent all of his equipment on ahead and didn't have anything to juggle. The Cop told him that he had some flares in the trunk of his patrol car, and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler stated that he could, so the Cop got three flares, lit them and handed them to the juggler. While the man was doing his juggling act, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. A drunk got out, watched the performance briefly, went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in. The Cop observed him doing this, and went over to the patrol car, opened the door and asked the drunk what he thought he was doing. The drunk replied, "You might as well haul my butt to jail, cause there's NO way I ll pass that test." A special thanks to our members who submit articles.
