END POLIO NOW MOVIE PREVIEW Saturday 16 th April 3.45 pm at the Capri Theatre Goodwood Rd Every year Rotary gets a chance to host an exclusive preview to a mainstream movie to raise funds for the End Polio campaign. This is Rotary s no. 1 world project to rid polio from the world. It has run a massive world-wide multimillion dollar vaccination program since 1985 where it has vaccinated, and is still vaccinating every new born child to eradicate the disease. It is doing this with the support of national governments and international agencies such as the World Health Organisation. Polio is now limited to just two countries Pakistan and Afghanistan and with the onground efforts focused in these countries over the past few years it anticipates eliminating the disease by 2017.

There have been 7 cases so far this year one in Afghanistan and 6 in Pakistan this is a third of cases to this time in 2015. The disease is now limited to the Taliban controlled areas in the North-western provinces of both countries. Tickets $20.00 CLICK THIS LINK BELOW TO BOOK http://e.mybookingmanager.com/eddietheeagle A special dinner is being held on 14 th May to recognise the Centennial of The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation turns 100 and we have two outstanding speakers on the night. Bill Boyd will have you spellbound. He perches himself on a bar stool to tell his stories. Ian Riseley, The world President Nominee, will tell his story through an interview on stage. I will also arrange for you to meet both of them personally. I will book a table for the club and will start taking names at the meeting on the 20 th April. The Board may cancel the meeting at the Kensi on the 18 th May in lieu. The Future of Rotary is in our hands. Rotary is Humanity in Motion Once in a while we are presented with an opportunity to meet and listen to Rotary Leaders who inspire service above self. 14 May 2016, Past RI President Bill Boyd and RI President Nominee Ian Riseley will join us at the Convention Centre, Riverbank Rooms, North Terrace, Adelaide. District Governors Doug Layng and Dick Wilson invite you, your club to book a table and join us for a night supporting our Foundation. A meal and drinks package has been negotiated including welcome drinks and 2 course meal $75pp Bookings: http://e.mybookingmanager.com/trfdinner2016 Bill Boyd was President of Rotary International in 2006/2007, only the second New Zealander to hold that position. In that capacity Bill and Lorna visited 40 countries, some several times. He was Chair of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in 2011/2012. He is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation s Citation for Meritorious Service and its Distinguished Service Award. Bill and his wife, Lorna, live in Howick, Auckland, New Zealand. Most of us can remember Bill who inspired us to Lead the Way, Bill s still leading the way. He s on a mission to engage us in changing OUR ROTARY. Keeping the best but ensuring we are an organisation that is fit for members who are still to join Rotary. Ian H.S. Riseley, of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, is the President Nominee of Rotary International in 2017-18. Ian says that meaningful partnerships with corporations and other organizations are crucial to Rotary s future. We have the programs and personnel and others have available resource. Doing good in the world is everyone s goal. We must learn from the experience of the polio eradication program to maximize our public awareness exposure for future partnerships. This event offers members a unique opportunity to hear first-hand, Ian s vision for Rotary going forward and to give your support to the Rotary Foundation.
