KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! Please read this carefully as it includes logistical details for your travel preparation and for each day of the 2011 Annual Convention. Print a copy of this document to refer to when you arrive in San Diego. WHAT TO BRING Bring your musical instrument or plan to sing your favorite song! You can be the star of the Evening Jam Session on Thursday night. Bring your own water bottle. There will be filtered water dispensers throughout the meeting space at the Hilton Bayfront. Bring your wireless device and charger. Americans for the Arts will be providing wireless internet access throughout the meeting space and a charging station in CenterStage. Bring your convention schedule on your phone! This year the convention website is optimized for mobile devices. Bookmark the At A Glance schedule for easy reference. Bring comfortable shoes. Spare your feet during the meeting and especially on ARTventure Tours. Bring an umbrella. Though rain is extremely rare in San Diego during the month of June, a number of our events are located in outdoor spaces so please be prepared! Bring layers of clothing. Temperatures in San Diego in June typically range from the low 70 s during the day to the low 60 s at night. Hotel meeting spaces are often cool. Conference dress is business casual. Bring your business cards. There are numerous networking opportunities during the Convention both planned and spontaneous. LOCAL TRAVEL Ground transportation information for travel to/from the and Courtyard Marriott San Diego Downtown. Please note that both hotels do not provide shuttle service. San Diego International Airport SAN Driving directions: Out of airport follow signs for Interstate 5/Downtown. The ramp will put you on Harbor Drive heading south. Continue to Park Boulevard, turn right. Distance from hotel: 3 miles Approximate driving time: 10 minutes Estimated tax fare: $14 18 (one way) Parking Hotel parking is available on a daily basis as follows: : Guests, self parking: $27 per day 1

From Terminal 1 you must cross the skybridge, and take either the escalators or the elevators to street level. From Terminal 2, cross the Terminal 2 skybridge and take either the escalators or the elevators to street level, or use the pedestrian crosswalk conveniently located outside the Terminal 2 Baggage Claim Area to access the Transportation Plaza. A Transportation Coordinator will place you with the first available shuttle, unless you specify a particular shuttle company. The Trolley serves historic Old Town, Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, Petco Park, and Qualcomm Stadium, among other popular San Diego destinations. Timetables are posted at each Trolley Station. Blue Line operate every 15 minutes during the day and 30 minute late night service. Orange and Green Line operate every 15 minutes Monday Friday during the day and every 30 minutes at night and on weekends The closest stop to the Hilton is the Gaslamp Quarter on the Orange Line. The closest to the Courtyard is the Fifth Avenue stop. Connect with colleagues and enjoy San Diego s fine cuisine. Attendees sign up on site (first come, first served) to eat lunch and discuss a topic led by a facilitator at a nearby restaurant. Dine Around participants will be responsible for all costs associated with the lunch. Sign up sheets will be posted in CenterStage. We ask that diners meet their leader in Waterfront Park next to the Bayfront Hilton no later than 12:15pm on Friday so that you can depart as a group. 3

Public Art Preconference UCSD, Price Center 3350 La Jolla Village San Diego, CA 92161 858 534 2230 LOGISTICS BY DAY Wednesday, June 15 Transportation from the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Downtown will begin at 7:15am and end at 7:30am. The bus will depart from in front of the main hotel entrance on the corner of 6 th Avenue and Broadway. Transportation from the will begin at 7:15am and end at 7:30am. Guests should depart the hotel from the Promenade Foyer East in order to find the bus transportation. Busses will not pull in front of the main hotel lobby. Should you choose to drive and park, please note the directions and maps attached to the Final Attendee email. United States Urban Arts Federation (USUAF) Meeting Various locations in Balboa Park Transportation from the will depart for Balboa Park at 9:30am. Guests should depart the hotel from the Promenade Foyer East in order to find the bus transportation. Busses will not pull in front of the main hotel lobby. Thursday, June 16 Opening Reception Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) Downtown 6:30pm 8:30pm 1100 Kettner Boulevard San Diego, CA 92101 3306 You will be provided a trolley ticket 1 day Pass for transportation to and from the Opening Reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) Downtown. Stop by the San Diego Hospitality Desk in CenterStage and trade in your trolley voucher (located in your registration packet) for this 1 day pass. The ticket will to cover your transportation to and from the museum. It is also a trolley day pass so it can be used multiple times during the day on Thursday before and after the Reception. Keep your trolley ticket in your name badge because you will need it to ride the train. From the Hilton: trolleys will depart from the Gaslamp Trolley Stop on the following special event schedule and take approximately 6 8 minutes each way: 6:15pm, 6:20pm, 6:25, 6:30pm. After the 6:30pm departure, the trolley will come on its regularly scheduled route every 15 minutes (6:45pm, 7:00pm, etc.) Staff will be at the Gaslamp Trolley Stop until 6:45pm to assist with any questions. Exit the Hilton Bayfront San Diego to the parking structure s 2nd level to cross the pedestrian bridge. Walk 1 block west (past PETCO Park and the Omni) to the Trolley s Gaslamp Station 4

Board the trolley at the Gaslamp Trolley Stop and disembark at the America Plaza Trolley Stop. From MCASD: board an Orange line trolley to return to the hotel or Gaslamp District at the America Plaza Trolley Stop (opposite side from the arrival) and disembark at the Gaslamp Trolley Stop and then return via the Pedestrian bridge. Evening Jam Session Room: 202 10:00am 1:00am Don t forget to bring your instruments, creativity, and enthusiasm to our Evening Jam! Your first drink us on us! You have a drink ticket for this event. ARTventures Various Offsite Locations 12:30pm 5:30pm Friday, June 17 ARTventure Tour tickets sales and substitutions can be made at the desk next to Registration until Thursday, June 16 at 4:30pm. On Friday, depart the hotel using the Promenade Foyer East and meet your tour leader outside in the adjacent park no later than 12:15pm. Tours will be lined up outside in numeric order and your tour number will be listed on your ARTventure ticket. Lunches will be distributed to Tours 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 outside of the Hilton prior to departure. Tours 1, 5, 8, 9, 10 will be served lunch in various offsite locations. Don t forget your walking shoes! All tours involve walking so be sure to stay comfortable. Dine Around Lunches Various Offsite Locations 12:45pm 2:30pm Signups for Dine Around Lunches close at 10:30am on Friday, Jun 17. All lunches are in walking distance and are dutch treat. While we will request separate checks for all lunches, it s always best to bring cash rather than try to pay with credit cards. Depart the hotel using the Promenade Foyer East and meet your Dine Around leader outside in the adjacent park no later than 12:15pm. Staff will be present to help you meet your group. Please remember what restaurant you selected during signups. Groups will depart promptly at 12:30pm in order to ensure a comfortable amount of time for the reservation and the afternoon s events. One to One Coaching Meeting Room Locations Vary 2:30pm 4:00pm 5

You must sign up for coaching sessions on the bulletin board in CenterStage. Sign ups close at 11:30am on Friday. Individual coaching sessions will be listed in CenterStage. Professional Members Reception Indigo Terrace 6:00pm 7:30pm You must be a Professional Member to join this celebratory event. You can join or renew your membership at the Resource Center in CenterStage. Emerging Leaders Reception Alexander Salazar Fine Arts Gallery 640 Broadway San Diego, CA 92101 6:45pm 8:30pm This reception is open to all Convention participants. Alexander Salazar Fine Arts Gallery is approximately a 20 minute walk from the Hilton and is located at the corner of the 7 th Avenue and Broadway in San Diego s Gaslamp Quarter. Emerging Leaders Council members will be in the Hilton lobby at 6:15pm with walking maps. A taxi stand is located in the hotel lobby. Light hors d oeuvres and a cash bar will be offered. AfterWords Lounge Odysea Lounge 10:00pm 1:00am You re not done yet! Dig out your drink ticket and come to the final evening networking event. The Odysea Lounge is located next to the main hotel bar on the lobby level. One to One Coaching Meeting Room Locations Vary 10:30am 11:30am Saturday, June 18 You must sign up for coaching sessions on the bulletin board in CenterStage. Sign ups close at 11:30am on Friday. Individual coaching sessions will be listed in CenterStage. SPECIAL NEEDS Attendees with specific accessibility needs attending the Opening Reception are encouraged to discuss transportation arrangements with Americans for the Arts registration desk staff to ensure your comfort. 6

ADDITIONAL NOTES Security: Theft in hotels is a concern during any meeting. Don t leave your belongings unattended in a public area. Use your hotel room safe for all valuables including your laptop.
