We were in Yakima, Washington and had good weather between stretches of 100 degree days so we got lucky. Always keeping an eye out for Corvairs, we saw none. Sorry we missed the meeting and the Tiny Town tour. Thanks to Wayne for organizing the tour and to Ed for hosting the July meeting. There is a lot of discussion among the Colorado contingent on traveling to Palm Springs for the Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet. I have to admit, I am intrigued. It would be a great challenge for me and my Monza. Ed has sent out registration forms and there are raffle tickets I will bring to the August meeting. Let me know in advance if you want me to reserve one for you. On The Cover: Ed & Cheryl Halpin s 67 4-Door Sport Sedan, back on the road after body, paint, and restoration. Patricia Fox has done some great advance work on the 2016 Tri-State and has information on a hotel and possible dates. As is the tradition of the Tri-State, we will return to the original location, Montrose, Colorado. As we move closer we will be asking for volunteers to help plan and support what should be a great Tri-State Meet. August will be a busy month starting with our PPCC meeting on the 9th and the Good Times Car Show, the Veterans Rally, both events on the 16th, and ending with the RMC Annual Dale Wilshire Picnic at the Wings over the Rockies Museum on the 23rd. We hope to see you all at one or all of these events. Drive Safe. MEETING MINUTES - 7/19/2015 Golden Corral, Colorado Springs, CO submitted by Mary Ellen Feasel Secretary Meeting called to order at 9:35 am by Ed Halpin, Vice President. Sixteen members present and one guest, John Green. Introduced John Green from Castle Rock. He had a '60 4dr. in college, sold when he went to graduate school. Looking for another car, no preference of early or late. June meeting minutes were approved. Treasurer report: John said We're good. $3143 in treasury before today's meeting. Make-A- Wish donation included $270 from members, $250 from the club. Dues received from membership for 2015 $650. OCC dues of $125 paid. In the mail...registration form for Great Western Fan Belt Toss and Swap Meet in Palm Springs Oct. 23-25. Several members interested in attending. Form will be e-mailed to membership. CCCC report: Fiero club was concerned that their cars weren't considered collector cars. New legislation has passed that 1978 and earlier years qualify for collector tags. Collector tags are exempt from emission testing. PPCC's Drip Line won 1st place for best newsletter at the National Convention. Ed displayed the plaque received. The PPCC was requested by CORSA to host the National Convention in 2017. Ed explained that CORSA will be changing drastically after 2017, so this could be the last Convention under the current charter. Ed and Randy had discussed prior to the meeting and passed. Ed forwarded the request to CNM and RMC. Harry Jensen at CORSA has a template on how to set up this type of event. There were no definite No's from membership. Will table the idea. Board will discuss further. Old Business: Upcoming events: July 25 Tiny Town and Railroad. Wayne announced that this is the 100th anniversary. It's a tiny town and amusement park. There is an operating steam powered railroad. Arrival time btwn 10:30-11:00 am. Wayne will direct cars to a grass area within the park and on display for visitors. Recommend not taking Deer Creek Canyon due to the high volume of bicyclists on the road. Go 285, and go the speed limit. Lots of speed traps on 285. August 16 Good Times Car Show. PPCC is a co-sponsor. Volunteers needed from PPCC. Contact Randy. August 23 RMC Picnic at Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. $10 per person. Monies need to be to Jerry by August 18th. MEETING MINUTES - 7/19/2015 (cont.) Show on regular meeting date of August 16. Forney Museum Corvair display Sept. 1 thru November. Larry Schubert in charge of display. John Koll has asked for help getting his pickup cleaned up for the display as well as transporting it to and from the museum. Several members offered to help. Aspen Run is Sept. 26, a Saturday. Lunch at AJ's Colorado Cafe in Cripple Creek. We have the entire upstairs. To caravan to lunch, meet at Rudy's (31st and Hwy 24) in Colorado Springs. Plan to arrive at AJ's between 11:30 and noon. Time TBD on meeting time at Rudy's. Wayne will look into possibility of touring the Victor Museum. More info on that later. Open to membership. Chris brought up her problems with her convertible top. Consensus from other sources is she needs a new top as there is no way to repair the break. Wayne shared a Mechanic Illustrated magazine he found in an antique shop. The cover picture looked like a Corvair, but was actually a Ford Cardinal. (The secretary's research following the meeting, it is a German Ford produced between 1962 and 1968. Garrie Fox reported that a former club member, Chris Klapp, who was transferred to Whiteman Air Force base in Missouri was involved in an accident in his shop. A flash fire occurred and seriously burned him. Garrie wanted to also stress the need for safety while working in our shops. Buddy system is good, but thankfully in this case no one else was hurt in this instance. After the meeting Patricia provided a site that is updated with Chris' progress. It's Caringbridge.org. Cards were circulated for members to sign and be sent to Chris and his family. Margaret, Bonni Russet's mom, turned 100 last month. We serenaded her with Happy Birthday. She was delighted. Meeting adjourned at 10:40. Upcoming 2015 Meeting Locations (3 months out) Sunday, August 9th - 9:30am, Golden Corral, 5410 E.
