THE TURKISH SOCIETY OF HVAC & SANITARY ENGINEERS The Turkish Society of HVAC and Sanitary Engineers, founded in 1992 in order to promote and develop heating, ventilating, air conditioning and sanitary engineering applications, is now a widely recognised organisation where professionals from various disciplines (designers, manufacturers, academicians, contractors, agents, etc.) gather in pursuit of common goals. The society strives to achieve information and technology transfer fro m abroad, to represent its members in international events and to establish the necessary connection with international institutions in order to inform its members on most recent technological developments in the sector. INVITATION The Tenth Biannual Symposium on HVAC+R Technologies, will take place on April 30th - May 2nd 2012 in Istanbul. This symposium, organised by the Turkish Society of HVAC & Sanitary Engineers, will be held with the participation of the representatives of the universities and companies and will be cooperated by the technical societies.you are invited to participate in this important meeting where the new products will be exhibited and where the papers on new technological developments will be presented. OBJECTIVE The 10th Symposium, being held in Istanbul since 1994, is progressively showing an international character. The main objective of the symposium is to provide an atmosphere to discuss scientific and technological developments in the fields of heating, refrigerating, ventilating, air conditioning and sanitary engineering applications and to benefit from the know-how and experience of engineers, contractors, academicians and manufacturers. Turkey has served as a bridge enabling the flow of information, technology and commerce between the East and the West. This particular symposium in Istanbul, which will be accompanied by an exhibition, aims to provide a similar bridge in the field of HVAC and Sanitary technologies. Social Programme The social activities programme of the symposium includes visits to the International HVAC+R (ISK-SODEX 2012) exhibition, visits to the cultural and touristic sites. Exhibition ISK-SODEX 2012 HVAC Exhibition will be held on May 2-5, 2012 in İstanbul, Turkey and is organized by Hannover Messe Sodeks Fuarcılık A.Ş. ISK-SODEX 2012 continues the tradition of being the HVAC Sectors third biggest exhibition in the world with 55.000sqm of exhibition area and app. 1000 exhibitors. Over 81.000 visitors are expected to visit the exhibition which is the meeting point of the sector with the participation of many national and international companies as a tradition. Name Badges & Congress Material Name badges and congress material will be provided on-site to registered delegates at the Registration Desk. All delegates are kindly requested to wear their name badges during all Symposium activities. Language The official congress language is Turkish. There will be simultaneous and/or consecutive translation in selected sessions. Certificate of Attendance A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to each participant who registers and attends to the Symposium. Liability By registering for the congress and/or by participating in the exhibition, participants agree that neither the organising committee nor the congress secretariat assume any responsibility for damage or injuries to persons or property during the congress. Participants and exhibitors are advised to organise their own health, travel and personal insurances. Banks Working hours for most of the banks are from Monday to Friday, 08:30-16:30. They are closed at weekends and on public holidays.
Climate Istanbul is mostly warm in April and May. The average temperature is 15 C during day. Evenings may be cooler, so it is advisable to bring some warmer clothes as well. Occasional rain showers may occur. Currency Turkish monetary system is Turkish Lira. Foreign currency may be changed at banks during normal banking hours from 09:00 to 16:00 during weekdays at hotels, airports and exchange offices. Exchange rates are set daily by the Central Bank. All major credit cards are acceptable in almost all hotels, restaurants and shops. To assure that your credit card is honored, you should alert your bank/credit card company (Visa, M/C, etc.) that you will be traveling to Turkey. Electric Current Electric Current is 220 Volts, AC 50 Cycles. Two - pin round plugs are used. Insurance The meeting organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage of property belonging to meeting participants (or their accompanying persons), either during, or as a result of the meeting. Please check the validity of your own insurance. Shopping Most shops in Istanbul are generally open from 09:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. Shopping centers are open every day of the week, usuallay from 10:00 to 22:00. In all shopping centers major credit cards are accepted and tax free shopping is possible. You will also have chance to do shopping in the historical Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar, which are located in the Old City district. Speakers Service Center (SSC) There will be a centrally located Speakers Service Center connected to the lecture hall. All speakers will be asked to hand in their PowerPoint presentations at least 1 hour before their lecture at the SSC. Travel to and in Istanbul All international and domestic flights arrive at Istanbul s Atatürk Airport. Buses depart from Airport to Taksim Area (downtown) every 30 minutes, operating between 06:00-23:00 hours. Travel time is 45 minutes and the cost is approximately Euro 5 per person. Private taxis are available, and the approximate cost is Euro 15-20 per taxi.
