September 2016 Volume 47, Issue 1 Encore Club President s Message The summer has flown by with time for family and friends, gardening and boating, relaxation and time to contemplate how fortunate I am. Thanks to Encore I have many new caring friends and a wide assortment of activities to keep me as busy as I want to be. Encore has a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers who plan and arrange coffees and lunches, places to go to and see from Broadway to local historical sites and museums, games to play - Bridge and Mah Jongg, book discussions, dinner and movie nights. The glue that keeps it all together is your Board who provide the coordination, communication and team work to keep all the balls in the air. The most important activity we have is our Annual Fundraiser to be held on Friday, October 21st, at Shore & Country. Carol Boehly is once again chairing this event. She has planned a delicious lunch and fashion show by Potpourri of New Canaan. 100% of all funds raised will be donated to Wilton Social Services. Every member s help is needed to contact merchants to donate their products or gift certificates to make our Raffle even more successful than it has been in the past. Call Carol to get a merchant donation letter and have it with you when you have your hair or nails done or buy anything in the greater Wilton area. Let Carol know which business you will be contacting so there is no duplicate soliciting. This is a Win-Win for everyone - the merchants get great publicity, our members get fabulous products and services and Social Services gets more money to use for the many needs of our neighbors who are less fortunate. A truism about organizations is the more involved you are, the more you will enjoy your membership. Join an Encore group, attend the social activities, participate in the historical, cultural and educational offerings that happily are close by. I look forward this year to making new friends and seeing old friends. Nancy Helmig, President "Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything. Muhammad Ali September Luncheon Date: September 22 Time: 11:30 A.M.
