Florida Nov.18th-Nov. 22nd Early Bird Nov. 17th Our Hosts this month was the Florida State Staff and what a fantastic job they did. With 409 rigs in attendance plus vendors and guests Joe and Debbie Weston, our State Directors, pulled their team of volunteers together to provide another flawless Rally. We were all disappointed when Joe and Debbie announced that they would not seek re-election for another term. Tributes will be forth coming because Joe and Debbie did a great job promoting Good Sams and especially Good Sams of Florida. They deserve all of our gratitude and thanks. At this point one couple has entered the contest to become our next State Directors. At this Rally Trail Blazing Sams had 11 rigs, I drive-in (Perrys) and 3 guests in attendance. The week was very busy with our members pitching in to do the many things we do at Rallies. Our members with the help of a few others spent many hours spread among Joe & Debbie Weston indoor games, Bocci Ball, craft competition, the Flea Market and selling water throughout the week. We raised $439.00 for our chapter which part is allocated to the Dogs for the Deaf and Florida Dog Guides FTD. Money raised for the Florida Dog Guides is being reserved until such time as the State decides if they will continue to support them.

Page 2 Trail Blazing Sams Volume XXXVII Issue 8 It all started with most of the rigs arriving Tuesday, early bird. That evening was the Opening Ceremony at Lake County fairgrounds located within a short walking distance from most sites Thursday we played Mexica Train Dominoes, Pinochle, Cribbage and Skip-Bo. T rail Blazing Sams V olume XXX VII I s s u e 8 P a ge 3 Thursday morning it was time to begin the outdoor game of Bean Bag Baseball. TBS had two teams with one of them moving on to the semi-finals only to lose 3-2 the Rolling Sams the eventual winner of the competition. Friday the outdoor games continued with Holly Board being the big game of the day. Once again TBS was well represented with two teams advancing to the semi-finals. Also going on was Crafts on display, the Doggie Custom Dog Walk and the Flea Market. The highlight of the evening program was the Memorial Service of the Lost Loved Ones. Team Russano & Lima (Holey Board) Team Jeannette & Richard Ormsby Score 18 to 18 Winner Victory to Team Russano & Lima Saturday the last of the outdoor games, Bocci Ball, got underway followed by the Memories of Christmas Past and The Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. The evening program was packed full of activities. Donation to Charities, Chapter of the Year announcement, Newsletter Award, Chapter Raffles and game winners. See the Good Sams of Florida website for the winners of different activities.

T rail Blazing Sams Page 5 FLORIDA GOOD SAMS CHAPTER OF THE YEAR The highlight of the Rally for us was when we were announced as the *Chapter of the Year* in Florida. A very unexpected and pleasant honor which caught most of us totally by surprise. Our members work hard all year long and especially at Rallies because we want to contribute to the overall success of TBS and Good Sams of Florida. It s very nice to be recognized for our efforts and we want to thank all who contributed We want to especially thank Al Morneault and Jeannette Ormsby who spent many hours putting a very impressive COY (Chapter of the Year) book together. SUNSHINE CORNER Rita reports that Lynn Frechette and Cerese Henning are still in different stages of recovery. John Perry is recovering nicely from shoulder replacement and should be back with us soon. Just heard that Myron Magedanz was in the hospital with heart related issues. He s home now but under Judy s strict discipline. MEMBERSHIP There is good and bad news. Our membership has dropped to 18 rigs with the recent resignation of John and Cerese Henning. John and Cerese have been long time members of TBS. They will be missed and we wish them well as they go through Cerese s recovery. The good news is that at this time we have four (4) potential new members. We hope they join our very fine Chapter. CAMPGROUND RATINGS Previously at the suggestion of our then Vice-President John Perry each Host and Hostess was asked to rate the campground we just visited. We are reactivating that rating system. In this issue we will rate Blueberry Hills RV Resort in Bushnell, Florida and Southern Palm RV Resort in Eustis, Florida. Each category will be rated on a 1-10 scale with 1 being the lowest. Blueberry Hills RV Resort Administrative (Campground office Staff) 4 Sites and Site services 10 Facilities (Recreation Hall, Kitchen) 3 Rates 6 Judy and Myron gave Blue Berry Hills RV Resort an Overall Rating 5.8 Southern Palms @ Eustis Fall Rally Administrative (Campground and office staff) 10 Sites and Site Services 10 Facilities (Recreation Hall, Kitchen) 8 Rates 10 Overall Rating 9.5

T rail Blazing Sams Page 6 FINAL THOUGHTS Sunday arrived and it was time to pack up and head back home to rest and relax, it was a very busy week for our Chapter. For the State Staff it must have been a very exhausting eight days which for most of them began before the sun came up and ended after most of us had retired for the evening. Throughout the week many commented about what a great Rally Good Sams of Florida puts on. We are all very proud of our State Staff and thank them for all they do to make our Rallies so much fun. SEE YOU ALL IN TALLAHASSEE Safe travels and to everyone A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. Please visit our web site at www:tbsams.weebly.com for more pictures of the activities at the Rally.
