LOCATION AND CAMP SITE West Yorkshire Canoe Club WEST TANFIELD SLALOM DIV 2 / 3 / 4 Double 24 th /25 th September 2016 The site is on the River Ure at Sleningford Watermill Caravan Park, West Tanfield. This is signposted on the Ripon/West Tanfield Road (A6108) about half a mile south of West Tanfield village. Sleningford Mill is an attractive riverside camping and caravan site, part of which (the island site with a large number of electric hookups) is separately hired for the slalom. All slalom Tents and caravans should please use the island slalom campsite and pay for camping/caravanning to the organisers at the gate onto the island upon arrival. We (WYCC) pay a very significant charge for use of the island site, which previously has left us with a financial loss because a number of slalom visitors booking on the commercial site. Please do therefore use the WYCC island slalom caravan and campsite with its electric hookups etc, in order we can meet the substantial site cost and keep the event viable. It is a requirement of the Sleningford site that for fire safety reasons separate tent or caravan pitches, including any vehicle etc, must be sited at least three metres apart. Please help us by ensuring you comply with this, as otherwise the site managers may require your tent or caravan to be resited. Other important rules of the site include a safety speed limit of 5 miles per hour, including on the access from the main road, quiet hours (Ie. no noise or disturbance) from 9.30pm to 7.30am, any dogs to be kept on leads, only purpose built barbecues to be used, with absolutely no post barbecue fires, fire pits, chimaeras, braziers etc allowed. A copy of the Slenningford site rules will be available on the event notice board. Because the site is also a commercial one, there will be a number of other visitors on the none island site who have no connection with canoeing. The usual good standard of behavior is therefore requested please from everyone attending the slalom. Please also note the main (vehicle) security gate at Sleningford is closed each night from circa 11pm until circa 7.0 am. Although we do our best to keep an eye on the gate for late arrivals at the slalom, anyone arriving during the gate closing hours could have to leave vehicles overnight in the area outside the main gate. Drinking water and chemical toilet emptying points are available. Toilet and washing facilities including hot showers are provided in the island toilet block. Please treat these with respect and please help the organizers by helping keep these toilet areas clean and tidy. There are a large number of electric hook ups on the island campsite. If you particularly need a hook up please ask at the gate when you arrive, and these will be allocated at a charge of 4 per night. Please note each hook up pitch is only to be occupied by one caravan or family tent. The organizers will again be running a café tent on site during the weekend, providing a range of hot and cold food and drinks, intended to include tea and coffee etc, and such delicacies as bacon and egg butties or breakfasts, Lasagne, chilli etc and a range of cakes etc. SLALOM CAMPING / CARAVAN FEES (PAYABLE TO WYCC AT THE GATE ONTO THE ISLAND NOT AT THE SITE SHOP) 5 per person per night Children 8 years or under no charge. Electric hook up add 4 per night Car parking only 4 per day
