Fisheries plan to evaluate UAS for large whale surveys, 2015 These are sightings of all marine mammals seen from our manned aircraft flights over the Chukchi Sea in summer 2010. The highest density of cetaceans is nearshore just SW of Barrow (there was also higher amounts of effort in this nearshore area These are sightings of gray whales from our manned aircraft flights. This is the area in the Chukchi Sea with a predictable high density of gray whales that we ve identified as a good place to test whether a UAS can get reliable density estimates of large cetaceans.
