It is hard to believe that 2015 is almost over and that the 2016 WINTER SKEET Event will be starting on January 1st, 2016. We will also be having our annual New Year s Brunch on Friday January 1st. Please put it on your calendar, it will be a nice event for you and your family. Please due to congestion, no guns in the great room that day. The Board of Directors are working on a couple of things that you should know about. The first is the 2016 version of the Club s 5 year plan, their first meeting was Wednesday December 16 th. The 5 Year Committee is chaired by Jim Holland and includes members Steve Davis, Tom Sweeney, Tom Lotus and Kerry Luft. The committee is charged with presenting the plan to the Directors for approval, and the 5 year Budget is then developed in conjunction with the plan. Both of these documents will be posted on the Club s Bulletin Board. If you would like to suggest to the planning committee any major maintenance or capital improvement projects, please let me, any Committee Member or Brett know and we will pass them along. The second item that is being worked on is a New Member packet, which will be given to the new member at their New Member Orientation meeting. Besides letters from each Chairman, the new members will receive some free targets to try out our various shooting venues. Finally I stated in my November message that we would be putting more content in the newsletter, and we will be putting it out in a timely manner. I have formed a Newsletter committee, that I was hoping could meet in December but that is not going to happen, but it will in early January, and I hope you will be happy with the progress. I hope to see you around the club, and while the warm trend continues let s get out and shoot! Larry Denison Just a reminder: NSC will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & New Year s Eve Open New Year s Day for Brunch and Shooting

MANAGER S REPORT We ve had a great 2015 and are a very lucky to have such great weather in December. Our grounds and equipment are in great shape and this is a great time to bring out your family and friends for a day of shooting. The Holiday season is a busy and fun time at NSC and I m sure you ll find friends new and old at the club when you visit. I would like to remind everyone to contribute to our Holiday Fund for the hourly employees. The young people at NSC work hard, year-round, in all kinds of weather so we can enjoy our hobby and they really appreciate this annual gesture. If you are unable to visit the club you can call in and we can transfer from your credit book account or even take a credit card. On their behalf, thank you for your generosity! We are pulling out all the stops to plan a special New Year s Day Brunch this year so please plan on attending and please advance purchase your tickets so we can better serve you. Brunch will run from 9-11:00 and the menu will include: a ham and roast beef slicing station, omelets cooked to order, lox and bagels, bacon, Belgian waffles, eggs, potatoes, yogurt, fruits, juices and more! Winter skeet begins on January 1 st, please sign up if you haven t already. Many board members have signed up for winter skeet. Please join us for New Year s Day Brunch, tickets are discounted if you buy them in advance. We are finalizing the new member packets and Kerry Luft is helping us edit all the information which will explain all of our venues to the new members. We are making an effort to be timelier and to try to add more content with our newsletter. Our lawyers and accountants have Ok d the transfer of funds ($200,000) from Big Sag to Northbrook Sports Club. We will use $50,000 to replenish the Defense Fund and use the rest to pay down the line of credit. The club is doing well and we had a nice turnout for the December sporting clays tournament. Members Comments Bob Lavallee requested the board to allow him to use his Jeep Wrangler on the sporting clay and FITASC course. President Denison replied that it would be discussed. Board members and commented that the rule has been to exclude licensed vehicles and vehicles larger than UTVS on the courses. Member Bob Shuley had negative comments regarding Thursday dinner and was informed that dinners were to be canceled for lack of interest. General discussion was made of the contributions of Thursday night shooting versus the costs borne by the club and the Board has asked management to prepare data for review Motion to adjourn for Deliberations of the Committee of the Whole made by Holland Passed Manager s Report - Brett Seibert Due to mild weather and active membership we had a record $51,000 in casual shooting for the month. For reference, the highest summer months typically peak at $55,000. We brought in $19,000 event profits for the month helped by $8,000 in corporate event revenue. The Grayslake Police

Department will be having their Annual holiday party at our club on Saturday night. We will be sending more Quick Shots out for Winter Skeet and New Year s Day brunch. Treasurers Report Jim Holland November brought in $63,000 in revenue. The kitchen was close to even for the month only losing $1,000 (excluding small-wares purchases). Comparison of November 14 vs 15 events netted up 22% from last year. Pro shop and shell sales were even, building and grounds were up 11%, labor was up 4% and administrative expenses were also higher. We will disperse the Big Sag payment to replenish the defense fund and use the remainder toward the repayment of the line of credit. At the end of the year we will apply the remaining 2015 revenue to pay off the line of credit. Grounds Larry Denison I am looking for a (my) replacement for the Building and Grounds chairman Games Dragoon Games are good, the trap is throwing well and hopefully with hunting season closed, the numbers will pick up. Membership John Heitman This month we have 16 new applicants, bringing the club total to 1110 members: 1031 general, 8 honorary life, 7 juniors, 4 youth and 48 non-residents, 2 special, and 11 non-active. Skeet Andy Schusteff Winter skeet starts January 1 st, please register soon. We have mailed the Northbrook Classic registration forms to everyone that participated in last year s event. We are looking into hosting a NSSA instructor certification class at our club. It would be beneficial to have certified instructors and would promote our club for non-members who may participate in the class. Sporting Clays Mike Warkenthien Our December shoot had 84 entrants in sporting clays, 44 in five-stand, and 56 in FITASC. Our January shoot will be held on 30 th and 31 th. 5-Stand Tom Sweeney Sample heater is due soon. Big Sag Vetter We are still waiting on Mariano s to finalize the sale of 3.3 acres for $346,500 and have a deposit from W. M. Ryan for another.63 acres ($64,000). The Lake County Forest Preserve is interested in purchasing.116 acres which would complete the sale of all of the available credits. Motion to end deliberations by Schusteff Passed.
