General Information Conference Venue The Fifth International Conference on Information, Communications and Signal Processing (ICICS 2005) will be held during December 6 9, 2005 at the Grand Hotel, Bangkok. In addition to the regular technical sessions, there will be keynote speeches, tutorials, special sessions, social programs, exhibitions, and excursions. Bangkok is one of Asia s most cosmopolitan cities. Created as the Thai capital in 1782 by the first monarch of the present Chakri dynasty, Bangkok is a national treasure house and Thailand s spiritual, cultural, political, commercial, educational and diplomatic centre. Bangkok exceeds 1,500 square kilometres in area and is home to one-tenth of the country's population. Major tourist attractions include glittering Buddhist temples, palaces, timeless Venice of the East canal and river scenes, classical dance extravaganzas, and numerous shopping centres. To discover more about Thailand, go to http://www.tourismthailand.org/about/aboutthailand.aspx Thailand Visa As a general rule, any foreigner seeking entry into the Kingdom of Thailand for business, investment, study, medical treatment, mass media, religion, employment and other purposes is required to apply for a visa from the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General. However, passport holders from 40 countries including Singapore, Republic of Korea, Japan, US, Australia, Canada, UK, and Hong Kong SAR do not require a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes if their stay in the Kingdom does not exceed 30 days. In the e-mail, please include your accepted and registered paper ID and its title with your mailing information. Currency Exchanges Money exchange at the Foreign Exchange Rates is available at the Check-in Counter of the venue on the 2 nd floor or at the Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Ltd and Thai Farmers Bank Public Company Ltd in a walk distance from the Venue (opening time: 0830 1530, Mon.- Fri. except National Holidays).

Thai currency is in Baht. The average exchange rate is about 1 US$ = 40 Baht. Presentation of your passport is required for money exchange. On-Site Conference Secretariat and Presentation Preparation Room The on-site Conference Secretariat is located at the Chaang Luang Room on the 4 th floor, from December 6 9. For information concerning the technical program and other conference related issues, please inquire at the secretariat counter from 0800 1700. Fax, photo copy and telephones for international as well as domestic calls are available at the Business Center on the 1 st floor. International and domestic calls can also be made in the guest room. Message Board Any program changes or urgent announcement from the Secretariat and person-to-person messages will be posted on the Message Board located at the Foyer of the Plimarnmek Grand Ballroom on the 3 rd floor. Please check the board occasionally. Conference Registration All conference registrations include admission to all technical sessions, keynote speeches, special sessions, social programs, exhibitions, conference guide and proceedings (CD-ROM), conference kits, coffee breaks and lunches. The lunch coupons are inserted in the conference bag and will be collected when served. Early registration is on December 6, from 1700 2000, in front of the Room on the 4 th floor where the Cocktail Reception will be arranged. Normal registration is on December 7 9, from 0800 1700, at the Foyer of the Plimarnmek Grand Ballroom on the 3 rd floor where the Opening Ceremony will be arranged. Tutorial Registration Registration for Tutorial sessions is on December 6, from 0800 1400, in front of the Uthai Thep Room and Boromatrai Room on the 4 th floor. Exhibitions The exhibitions are being held in conjunction with ICICS 2005 conference technical program. The exhibitions will be available from December 7 9 in the Room on the 4 th floor, from 0800 1700. Internet Access Internet access with Broadband High-speed Wireless access is available (free of charge) at the Room on the 4 th floor, from 0800 1700 on December 7 9.

Guidelines for Presenters Our staff will do their best to assist you in your presentation, however we request your kind cooperation on the following items: 1. Please report to the conference secretariat at least two hours before the session, and to try out your presentation slides. 2. Computer (installed with Window XP, Microsoft Office 2003 and Acrobat Reader 7.0), overhead and LCD projectors are available as a presentation tool. Please notify the organiser in advance if you need other kind of presentation tools (e.g. slide projector, VHS player, etc). 3. The presentation time is 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute discussion. More discussion can be held or can be done during the coffee break or lunch time. 4. Powerpoint or Acrobat PDF slides for presentation on an LCD video projector are recommended for your presentation. Social Programs Cocktail Reception An informal cocktail reception will be arranged to welcome all conference participants. Traditional Thai musical band will be performed. Date & Time: December 6 (Tue.) 1800 2030 Venue: Room on the 4 th floor Opening Ceremony Opening Ceremony will be held at Plimarnmek Grand Ballroom on the 3 rd floor on December 7 from 0900 0930. Conference Banquet An International Buffet Dinner (Sit-down style, round table) will be served. Northeastern musical band will be performed to introduce the participants to the graceful culture and countryside of Thailand.
