April Meeting Highlights President s Welcome The Astrowings membership meeting of 04/15/2013 was called to order at 7:30 pm by President Steve Tarney. Field Condition Wet at meeting time. Is now drying nicely. Treasurer s Report The treasure s report was read and approved. Old Business Steve led a discussion of field use and emphasized that we were no longer able to fly from the road. There is interest in the Big Tent that we have for sale and we still need to find a good deal on more picnic tables and benches. Our family picnic day will be Sunday, August 4th and the Boy Scouts Flying Day is Sunday, June 23rd. New Business Jim Hendrickson reported that our Fun Fly charity event sanction has been finalized. The City of Grafton has been notified of the date. The event is posted on all RC groups. Jim went on to say that more raffle prize donations would be welcomed. He also noted that he will need more help than in past years. So, we need lots of volunteers. Show and Tell Mike Crotteau brought the Sig Colt that he s been working on. He promised to bring it back once it s finished. Russ Whitford showed his Lil Rough Neck that he built from scratch using an old time plan. All done old school with tissue and good old balsa. See the next page for the plans and an old tube receiver he also brought. meeting highlights continue next page

2 Astrowings Field Hours Fuel and Electric Planes Mon-Fri 10 am-dusk Sat-Sun 10 am-5 pm Pilots must sign in and out of the flight log for each flying session Flying is not permitted beyond the east flags installed by WE energies. Show & Tell Continues Steve Tarney brought his new plane still in one piece, for now. He also brought his new catapult and demonstrated how it would work, with all the appropriate airplane noises. Quite enjoyable actually. During summer months grass cutting is done every Friday morning and no flying is permitted during this time.
