ITINERARY DAY 1: ENTEBBE Arriving into Entebbe today, you will be met and driven on to your luxury hotel on the shores of Lake Victoria. After a chance to freshen up, the rest of the day is then free to relax and enjoy at your leisure. DAY 2: ENTEBBE - KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK After breakfast this morning you will be collected from the hotel and transferred to the Kajjansi Airstrip, for the flight up to Kidepo National Park. On arrival you will enjoy a game drive transfer to your lodge, in time for lunch and a chance to relax before spending the later part of the afternoon exploring your surroundings with your local guide. (B,L,D) DAY 3: KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK Considered one of Africa's finest wilderness areas, Kidepo is home to over 75 species of mammals and some 475 species of birds. Its charm also lies in the fact that its isolation attracts few other visitors, presenting you with an almost exclusive safari experience. With huge herds of elephant and buffalo on show, as well as impressive numbers of lions, the game viewing here is highly rewarding and provides a chance for some truly extraordinary photo opportunities. (B,L,D) DAY 4: KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK Returning to the lodge after an early morning game drive, there will be ample time to enjoy a leisurely lunch and some time to relax before embarking on an afternoon visit out into the local community. The lodge not only supports the surrounding villages, but draws many of its staff from the community as well and the visit provides a fascinating and humbling insight into life in rural Africa and how the locals cope with sharing this landscape with the big game. (B,L,D) DAY 5: KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK - MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK Following a final morning's game drive you will depart the park and head towards Murchison Falls National Park by road. A long but interesting journey, with a chance to do some game spotting en route, you will arrive at your next lodge late this afternoon. Murchison Falls is Uganda's oldest and largest conservation area and on arrival you will have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy your surroundings. (B,L,D)
DAY 6: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK Your first full day at Murchison begins with a morning's game drive across the game-rich plains of the national park. Home to over 70 species of mammals and an incredible diversity of birds, the park is blessed with an abundance of wildlife. Returning to the lodge to enjoy the hospitality and serenity of your home from home, you'll then head back out again later this afternoon to enjoy more wildlife encounters. (B,L,D) DAY 7: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK Making the most of the varied activities on offer, this morning you will head out into the delta by boat, to search for shoebills along the shoreline of Lake Albert. Later there is then the opportunity to take the boat up to the Murchison Falls, before hiking up to the top to enjoy the incredible views and a sundowner drink with the setting sun. (B,L,D) DAY 8: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK - ENTEBBE Following a morning game drive you will be transferred to the airstrip for the flight back to Entebbe, where you will connect with your onward flight arrangements. ACCOMMODATION KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK APOKA SAFARI LODGE Apoka Safari Lodge is found in the remote outpost of the Kidepo Valley National Park in the far North of Uganda and is currently the only commercial lodge operating in the park. This ensures visitors who make the journey up here can explore this stunning wilderness in the utmost privacy. There are ten cottages at Apoka, with two family cottages and eight standard cottages, all of which are beautifully appointed with views out over the open savannah, Narus valley or nearby mountains depending on which cottage you stay in. They all have thick canvas walls and thatched rooves which help to keep them cool in summer and warm in winter. Inside they have a very traditional feel to them with hardwood furnishings, mosquito net draped beds and spacious en-suite bathrooms with full amenities and outdoor baths. The main area of the lodge is a vast open-sided lounge area which looks out across the plains and is packed with comfy sofas and chairs for afternoons relaxing. The large swimming pool is another great spot to relax in the afternoons and take in the stunning views and watch animals wander by the lodge. The food here is superb, especially considering the remote location and is a real feature of any stay at Apoka. Activities at Apoka take the form of game drives, guided walks, picnic lunches in the bush and visits to the local communities which the lodge helps to support. LAKE VICTORIA LAKE VICTORIA SERENA GOLF RESORT & SPA On the shores of Lake Victoria and set amongst the fairways of Uganda s premier golf course, the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa is a great spot to unwind after a busy trip around Uganda, especially if you are looking to have plenty of facilities on-site. With 124 bedrooms this is undoubtedly a large hotel, but it occupies a huge space and has sufficient facilities to keep guests happy, even during busy periods. The bedrooms are all en-suite with air-conditioning, satellite TVs, minibars and individual safes. There are four restaurants at the lodge serving a wide variety of international cuisines and two bars which are both open late. The large outdoor swimming pool is a great place to relax and soak up the sunshine whilst the health club, spa and gym are also popular features of the hotel. The 9 hole golf course is available to residents for a nominal fee and there are plenty of facilities for children as well. BAKERS LODGE Idyllically located on the Southern banks of the mighty River Nile, the beautifully styled Baker s Lodge is a wonderfully comfortable spot from which to explore the endless expanses of the game-rich Murchison Falls National Park. Each of the eight safari suites are all very spacious and set beneath the shade of large trees away from the water s edge. Inside they are very spacious and comfortable with large windows which look out towards the Nile. The beds are draped in mosquito nets and ceiling fans help to keep guests cool during summer. There are en-suite bathrooms in each suite with some of these boasting views out towards the river. As with most safari lodges, the food is an important element of any stay and the centrally located restaurant and bar area acts as the social hub of the lodge. Guests are welcome to serve themselves drinks throughout the day and in the evenings the firepit is lit on the lawn and this is a very popular place to congregate and share tales of a day in the bush. There is a lovely swimming pool at the lodge and the small curio shop has a variety of locally crafted gifts for sale. The lodge offers a variety of activities that can be booked and paid for on a local basis including trips to The Murchison Falls, cruises to the Nile Delta and Lake Albert and fishing trips. Of course, game drives are a popular way to spend some time, with a wide variety of animal life found within the park.
