Please note: You are receiving this newsletter on the morning of April 30th. That means the next membership meeting is TOMORROW, Thursday, May 1st. See you there. PRESIDENT'S NOTES It s been a busy month for the club. First GAPD, followed by the birthday party, sponsored by AIM bank then Blue Ribbon Rally. We ve had a great turnout for each of the events. Special thanks to Dennis for work on GAPD and for the t-shirts from Darin and Sylvie to commemorate that event. We also had a good turnout for the baseball game for John Blake s granddaughter and team. Thanks to AIM bank, particularly Danny Johnston as he provided all of the food for the noon meal with the club only providing some labor on the grill and the cake. Ronnie made a pretty good server and cashier for folks that bought their burgers. He may get a part-time job at Red Zone and work our monthly meetings! We made at least $100 from visitors that bought burgers and that money went to the Celebrate Life group from UMC cancer center. The total for the day was over $1000 which was, I think, a record for the club and maybe the cancer group. Vaisia Craddick will be at the May 1 st meeting to announce which car was the winner and provide the owner with some gifts. We had a great turnout of about 40 cars at the bank and a lot of public traffic. We also picked up some new members, including some with another Mustang club known as Just Clowning. They originated in San Antonio and are now in Lubbock. Hopefully we can work together on some future Mustang events. Although I missed the Blue Ribbon Rally again, since Jason and I were judging at the Chicken Fried Steak festival, I appreciate all the work that Mike and Ronnie did in getting the parking crew set-up and making the show. I know many more shows are on the way and we need to focus on the annual show for the club. Please note that the meeting is literally on the FIRST Thursday of May and we need you to help up plan for the months ahead, especially the August show. Thanks everyone. John Doc's Thoughts First, I'll just echo what John said about April being a big month for our club. The Great American Pony Drive event was a great experience and I know the folks from New Zealand and Australia were impressed. Once again, kudos to Dennis Quattlebaum for putting it together.

The Birthday Party was also a great success with the lot full of cars and lots of good food from our sponsor AimBank (thanks again to Danny Johnston) and a special shout out to club member Monty Conn who provided the large gas grill we used to cook the meal on. Lastly, the Blue Ribbon Rally raised a lot of money for the Family Guidance and Outreach Center and our part in it went about as smooth as it ever has. We parked close to 300 cars, and thanks to our hard working crew, there were no problems. Terry and his friend Steven along with Jimmy and Jamey were at the tip of the spear, so to speak, and did the actual hard work of parking. The rest us of coordinated and directed the cars to them. Thanks to Bobby, Ronnie, John Blake, Art & Debbie, Glen, Sprague, Gordon, Justin, Mike, Deanna and our three volunteers from FGOC, Sharissa, Ashley and Jessica.

As you can see on the events calendar below, there are a ton of events coming up through the summer. One new event of special note is the "Old Guys Boogie Too" show at Cagle's Steakhouse on Saturday, June 7th, gates will open "around" 4:00 p.m.... "The Showdown Band" will play 6:00 --> 9:00 p.m., fajita buffet available ~ 6:30-7:30 p.m. For each car on display, we will "comp" 2 admission tickets Pre-Sale tickets $5 music venue admission/ $15 fajita buffet Day Of Gate prices $7 music venue admission/ $17 fajita buffet Proceeds benefit www.theinsideoutfoundation.org All local clubs and individuals who want to show a car are invited.
