Congratulations, you are on your way to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush. What is a tandem skydive? It s being voluntarily thrown out of an airplane with and by a complete stranger for fun! Why would you do that? Well, it s one of the most amazing adrenaline filled experiences you can have. Imagine sitting at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the blue sky, skydiving down through the air as you start freefalling up to 120mph! Well you can stop imagining. We re here to make it real! We ve tried to include as much information in this pack as possible about what will happen when you book your skydive, what to expect on the day, what to bring with you, and the weight, age and medical limitations. We ve even included information on taking part in a charity skydive. To psyche yourself up for your experience of a lifetime, why not take a look at some of our YouTube videos. Then, when you are ready to book your skydive, please give us a call on 07477331212, and we will get you booked in. We look forward to jumping with you. Wishing you blue skies, Sara & Danny

So, You Want To Jump For Charity! How Does It Work? Thank you for your interest in raising money for charity by taking part in a free- fall parachute jump from 10,000 feet. The price of a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet is 250, and to book your charity skydive, we ask fundraisers to pay a 50 deposit per person and then pay the balance of the skydive ( 200 per person), 7 days before the jump. In return for your bravery and efforts in raising money for a good cause, most charities are happy for you to use 50% of the funds you raise to cover the balance of your skydive, therefore they ask that you raise a minimum of 395. This is known as a Sponsored Skydive. Every pound raised above the minimum also goes straight to the charity, so please raise as much as you possibly can! Alternatively, if you would like to Self- Fund your skydive, there is no minimum amount that you would need to raise and every penny that you raise goes directly to the charity. Frequently Asked Questions There are a lot of questions associated with skydiving that you may be eager to learn the answer to. We ve tried to include everything we can below, but if you need to ask us anything else, then please don t hesitate to call us. Tips for First Timers Knowledge dispels fear. Obviously, the notion of throwing yourself from a perfectly good aeroplane brings very natural feelings of fear and apprehension. However, the tandem instructors and equipment are of the highest possible standard and all parachute centres in the UK operate under very tight Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and British Parachute Association (BPA) regulations. You will receive a warm welcome on arrival to put your mind at ease before you receive a comprehensive brief from your instructor. You ll soon see that there is nothing to worry about and all we ask is that you relax and truly enjoy this unique and wonderful experience. The rush - it's like nothing you've ever experienced. Yes, you re nervous beforehand, but you leave all that behind when you exit the plane. You will be left with just the incredible sensation of true flight. What do I need to bring with me? Before you jump, you ll be given a jumpsuit to go over your clothes, goggles and leather hat to wear during your jump. Please wear comfortable clothes; you should not wear any shoes with heals, hooks or buckles. Trainers are ideal. It can get a little cold at jump altitude so we also recommend bringing gloves with you. If you suffer from any medical conditions or take any prescription medication specified in BPA Forms 115A and 115B, it is a legal requirement that you have the BPA Medical Form 115B signed and stamped by your GP. Please bring the form with you on the day of your jump.
What time do I need to arrive and what happens on the day? When you call us to book, you will be given an arrival time. Please note, the arrival time is not the time of your jump - you are booked as part of a session and will receive your training as a group. Therefore, there is no need to arrive before the scheduled time. Your actual jump time will depend on the weather conditions on the day. When you arrive, your Tandem Instructor will give you a thorough training brief in preparation for your skydive. You'll then be kitted up and safety checked before being escorted to the aircraft. After take- off, it is only about 20 minutes before you'll reach jump altitude, however, it is a lot faster on the way down! What if the weather is bad? Skydiving is a weather dependent sport and we cannot guarantee that conditions will be suitable for parachuting every day; you will only skydive when it is safe to do so. On some occasions rain, heavy low cloud or strong winds can prohibit jumping. If you are unable to skydive then we will be happy to re- arrange your experience for a convenient date that is available. You have a full 12 months from your first booking to do your jump at no additional cost, however please see the T&Cs of the parachute centre once you have booked in, as your contract is with them on booking. If the weather is marginal, please be prepared to spend the entire day at the parachute centre while you wait for the blue skies. We cannot offer any refunds for booking fees or if paid in full for tandem skydives. If you cancel on the day or do not turn up, your booking fee is non- refundable and you will incur a 50 fee to reschedule. What should I wear? You should wear secure trainers and comfortable clothing, please dress appropriately for the weather on the day, and remember it will be colder at jump altitude so please bring gloves with you. You will be provide with all the necessary equipment, including jumpsuits, goggles, and headgear. Please do not wear any shoes with buckles, hooks or heals.
Are there any limitations on who can do it? Your introduction to skydiving will be with a highly experienced instructor, as a result we can cater for almost anyone. However, there are the following weight, age and health limitations to consider: Weight: The weight limit at most parachute centres is 15 stone fully clothed (95.2 KG) and you must also be relatively fit and healthy. Please note that your weight needs to be in proportion to height and conditions need to be suitable on the day of the jump, which may lead to delays on the day. Age: In the UK, 16 years old is the minimum legal age to participate in skydiving. However, if you are under 18 you must have parental consent. There is no upper age limit for Tandem Skydives. Medical Limitations: It is important that any person undertaking a skydive is fit to do so. All parachute centres are required to have a Declaration of Fitness for every person who jumps with them, in line with the requirements of the British Parachute Association. If you are lucky enough to be fit and healthy, and have not suffered from any of the medical conditions listed on the BPA Student Tandem Parachute Declaration Form (115A), you can declare yourself as fit to jump using BPA Form 115A. However, if you suffer from a medical conditions or take any prescription medication specified in Form 115A, it is a legal requirement that your GP certifies you as fit to skydive by signing and stamping BPA Form 115B Tandem Student Parachutist Doctor s Medical Certificate. If you re still unsure, get in touch! When are you open? The parachute centre operates on Wednesdays to Sundays, weather permitting. During the week, our booking office is open from 9 am until 5:30 pm. To book a skydive with us, simply call us on 07477331212 and a member or our team will help you. Alternatively, to book online please visit our website www.freedomskydiving.co.uk
Can friends and family come to watch? Absolutely! We encourage you to share this experience with your loved ones. There is a lovely view across the airfield and an onsite Café, which serves home cooked food and hot and cold drinks throughout the day. However, as skydiving is a weather dependent sport, please let your friends and family members know that they may have to wait a few hours to see you jump if the weather is marginal. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Dogs are welcome but are not permitted inside the buildings. Please keep your fury friend on a lead at all times. Can I have photos of my jump? You can have your jump filmed by either the handycam, worn by your Tandem Instructor or by booking a camera flyer. We will be happy to arrange to have your jump filmed when you book your skydive. Alternatively, you can decide on the day of your jump. Once filming is booked and paid for, there are no refunds for cancellations. However, in the unlikely event of a video and/or stills picture failure, a refund will be issued for the payments thereof, however no refund or re- jump will be issued for the tandem skydive. For safety purposes, it is a BPA regulation that cameras cannot be worn by students or anyone with less than 200 jumps. Can I re- book/cancel my skydive? On booking, you will be asked for a 50 non- refundable booking fee to secure your place. The balance of your skydive will be due on the day. If the weather prevents you from jumping, we will re- book your skydive free of charge. However, if you decide to re- book for other reasons and do not give us 10 days notice, you will be charged a re- book fee. If you cancel or do not turn up on the day without prior notice, you will forfeit your 50 booking fee and will need to make a completely new booking. If you ve paid in full for your skydive, the rebook fee for cancelling or not turning up on the day is 50. Payments are completely non- refundable for tandem skydives and camera filming.
