Forestburgh Newsletter May 2017 Forestburgh Town Hall hours are from 9-3 Mon. through Fri. (845)794-0611 Board and Committee News: For a copy of the minutes or agendas, please visit our website at forestburgh.net. While on the website, please check the calendar for upcoming events and meetings. Town Board Regular Town Board Meetings are the 1st Thursday of every month, at 7pm in the Town Hall. The next scheduled meeting will be on June 1, 2017. Be sure to check out the calendar on the Town s website at forestburgh.net for a list of upcoming meetings and times. The Town Board will hold a Special Workshop meeting to discuss indoor recreational use (Local Law #4) on May 22, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the Town Hall. No other business will be discussed at this special meeting unless pertaining to Local Law #4. The Town Board is seeking to fill the Planning Board seat that was recently vacated. Anyone interested, please contact Supervisor Dan Hogue at forestburghsupervisor@gmai.com. Planning Board There is a scheduled meeting of the Planning Board on May 30, 2017 at 7:00pm in the Town Hall. Comprehensive Plan Special Board The Comprehensive Plan Special Board has recommended the final Revised Comprehensive Plan to the Town Board. The Town Board will review the proposed plan, make any necessary changes, hold a public hearing (hopefully at the July meeting), and finally adopt the plan. The Revised Comprehensive Plan, as recommended to the Town board, is posted on the web page and may be found by going to the tab Boards and Committees, Comprehensive Plan Committee and then clicking the link marked Revised Comprehensive Plan-2017. Forestburgh Day Committee The next scheduled meeting for the Forestburgh Day Committee is May 11 th at 6 in the Town Hall (upstairs). This fun event will be held on Saturday, September 9 th from 12pm 4pm at the Forestburgh Firehouse. Announcements: Memorial Day Ceremony The annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place on Memorial Day, May 29 th, at 9:00am at the Forestburgh Memorial Triangle located at the intersection of St. Joseph s Hill Rd. and State Rt. 42. Immediately following the ceremony, all have been invited to the new Forestburgh General Store by its owners, the Jagel s.

Driver s Safety Course The Town of Forestburgh will be offering a one day Driver s Safety Course on Saturday, June 24 th at 9:00am in the Town Hall. The cost is $30 in advance or $35 at the door. To sign up for this course call Joanne Nagoda at the Town Hall at 794-0611 Ext. 21. This course will help you to save 10% on your car insurance!! Forestburgh Renaissance The Forestburgh Renaissance committee will meet at the Town Hall (upstairs) on May 11 th at 5:00pm. If you have any questions or you would like to be a member of this committee, contact Joanne Nagoda at 794-0611 Ext. 21. Forestburgh Fire Department The Forestburgh Fire Department will be having their Pancake Breakfast on May 21 st from 8am-11am. Adults are $7, children under 12 are $4 and children under 6 are FREE. The fire department has a meeting every Wednesday at 7pm in the firehouse. Anyone interested in joining the fire department is urged to attend a meeting. For more information call Chief Todd Petrowsky at 794-7899. Forestburgh Summer Program/Pool The Forestburgh Summer program dates for 2017 are July 5-August 11. Registration forms for camp may be obtained at the Town Hall or on our website at www.forestburgh.net. Please bring camper registration form, medical/insurance forms and updated immunization records for each child on the first day you bring them to camp. You may also, mail them in advance to: Forestburgh Town Hall, Summer Camp Registration, 332 King Road, Forestburgh, NY 12777. Camp is FREE for residents/non-residents with a relative living in the Town of Forestburgh and $125.00 per week for non-residents. A calendar of events will follow, as we get into the camp season. Any further questions, please call the Town Hall 794-0611 Ext. 21. The pool is due to open on July 1, and will be open to the public every day, from 12-6pm. The usage fee is free for residents and $2.00 per guest per day. Call the Town Hall for daily schedule (845)794-0611 Ext. 21. Surplus Items The Town Board has declared the dog pen and dog house located at the Town Hall surplus. We will be receiving bids for its purchase. If you are interested, please stop into the Town Hall and see Wendy to submit a proposal. We would like to have it sold by the June 1 st meeting. The items will be sold separately. If you would like both items you will need to submit a bid for each. Items will be sold to highest bidder, be it $5.00 or $500, so if you are interested, submit your bid as soon as possible. Bids will be accepted May 8 th thru May 23 rd, 9:00am-3:00 pm. Voting Update School Budget voter registration day is Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Town Hall from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. School Budget Vote is Tuesday, May 16, 2016 from 8:00 am to 8:00 p.m. at the Town Hall. For more information contact Town Clerk Joanne Nagoda 794-0611 ext. 21. Forestburgh 5K The annual Forestburgh 5K Race/Walk will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 8:30 AM at Lake Joseph and Adams Rd. (off Route 42) in Forestburgh, to benefit Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc. Registration is $18 before the race and $20 on the day of the race. Entry forms are available at: www.forestburgh5k.com.for additional information about the event or a pledge of support, e mail: forestburgh5k@gmail.com. For information about Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, go to www. hospiceoforange.com.

Sullivan County 2017 Litter Pluck The annual litter pluck for Sullivan County is under way until May 14 th. Free bags are available at the Forestburgh Town Hall, Transfer Stations, and the S.C. Parks office. For more information please contact Brian Scardefield, Director of Parks, Recreation & Beautification at 807-0287. 2017 FORESTBURGH SENIOR EVENTS JUNE 12-Monday-Club meets at 1:00pm to carpool to C.I.A. in Hyde Park for lunch. JULY 10- Monday-Club meets at 1:00 pm in the Town Hall for lunch. AUGUST 14-Monday- Club meets at 1:00pm to carpool to Newburgh River Ride and lunch. SEPTEMBER 9- Saturday-FORESTBURGH DAY 12-4 at the Forestburgh Firehouse. SEPTEMBER 11-Monday-Club meets for lunch at 1:00pm in the Town Hall. SEPTEMBER 27-Wednesday-Club meets at the Monticello Casino at 1:00pm for lunch and fun! OCTOBER 16-Monday-Club meets at 1:00pm in the Town Hall for lunch. OCTOBER 30-Monday-Club meets at 4:00pm at the Erie Station in Port Jervis. NOVEMBER 13-Monday-Club meets at 1:00pm in the Town Hall for lunch. NOVEMBER 28-Tuesday-Club meets at 1:00pm at Soy in Monticello for lunch. DECEMBER 14 (snow date 15 th )-Thursday-HOLIDAY PARTY at Solaia in Monticello. For more information on joining our Forestburgh Seniors Club call Sabina Toomey at 794-2702. Forestburgh Reval Update The Reval is progressing, and data collection is in its final stages. We hope to have mailings going out to property owners by summer. Dog Owners Now that our dogs can enjoy the nice weather along with us, please be reminded that when your dog is off your property they MUST be on a leash. Not only is this the law, but it also protects our dogs from injury and illness. Your neighbors will appreciate your consideration as well. To further reduce the risk of illness or injury to your pet, make sure they are up to date on vaccines and licensed. Any dog that is harbored in the town for 30 days or more must be licensed. You can license your dog at the Town Hall with the Town Clerk. Spring Clean-Up TOWN OF FORESTBURGH SPRING CLEAN UP MAY 22- MAY 27, 2017 Residents must separate materials into the following categories prior to bringing it to the Town Barn: A. Appliances and Scrap Metal (washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, pipe, etc.) B. Construction and demolition debris and bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, carpets, etc.) C. Recyclables ****ANY BULKY WASTE ITEMS SHOULD BE NEAT & TIED WITH ROPE**** (For example: shingles) We cannot accept the following items: -NO tires -NO refrigerators or air conditioners -NO pipe or metal objects that are 4 foot or longer in length (must be cut to proper size) -NO fuel tanks or oil drums -NO full or partially full cans of paint, petroleum products, pesticides or any other hazardous waste -NO brush, yard waste, bags of leaves, stumps or rocks -NO household garbage or commercial waste of any kind -NO electronic scrap (computer monitors, computers, or television, etc.) HOURS OF OPERATION MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 7:00 A.M.
