His last 3 years with CSR Readymix were in a National Technical and Marketing role. Summary In the early times with CSR Readymix Ian worked on the development of production and materials issues consistent with producing concrete of the highest quality at the lowest relative cost and with the lowest standard deviation. Ian s specialised knowledge and extensive practical experience covers such areas as High Performance Concrete, High Strength Concrete, floors and fibre technology. Ian has worked on many projects throughout Australia and overseas the more notable ones being Loy Yang Power Station, Melbourne Central, Bourke Plaza, 530 Collins street and Baiyoke 2 Tower in Bangkok. Ian has served on many industry associations including six years as a Concrete Institute of Australia Federal (CIA) Counsellor and 15 years on the Victorian Branch Committee. Ian is a member of the NATA Certification Test Committee and NATA assessor as well as a past NRMCA Technical Committee Chairman and member of FIP Working Group on HPC/HSC. Incorporated all the latest concrete, placing and finishing technology, which is setting CSR Readymix apart from the other companies. Carried out high profile marketing to major contractors and developers located in Sydney and Melbourne Launch of Steelcrete with Dramix in a number of locations in Australia Developed and launched The Micropoz Concept. This concept of high performance concrete and support services led to a major improvement to CSR s market position Consultant for Concrete Construction Thailand for the Baiyoke 2. 90 level Tower (the world s tallest concrete building) Shotcrete developments & application New Products & Services Development Lead the development & application of HSC in Melbourne on numerous high rise in the late 1980s 1985 1993 Responsible for all technical and related activities for Readymix Quarries and Sand in Victoria and Tasmania. Conceived and developed the Micropoz Concrete concept in the late 1980 s. As Technical Manger Ian managed some 35 people in the Technical Division with an annual budget of A$2.25mil. Operations included some 12 laboratories of varying sizes throughout Victoria and Tasmania. The main Concrete Laboratory was at Oakleigh with smaller laboratories at Wangaratta, Geelong and Hobart. Raw material laboratories for testing quarry and sand products were spread across Victoria and Tasmania.

Major achievements in the previous roles included: Rationalising QC. technical operations and mix designs in concrete operations to ensure all customers received the best quality concrete at a minimum cost Establishing the most effcient laboratory and technical service available in Melbourne from a concrete perspective. Utilising excess raw materials in concrete to maximise quarry returns with out compromising the quality of the concrete or the customer s expectations. On the team that conceived and wrote the Readymix Australia Quality Control Procedures and Technical Manual in the early 1970 s Developed Readymix Australia Admixture business in Adelaide in 1978 giving Readymix a major lead on its competitors technically and commercially Developed the Superflow concept Worked with a number of new products and services including, foam concrete, fibre concrete, no fines concrete, vacuum de-watering Notably improved pumpability, workability and consistency from and end user perspective. Focused specific technical support and argument to have several quarry sites previously rejected accepted by VicRoads Lead the company in implementing Quality Assurance and employed the Regional QA manager in 1990 1982 1985 As a result of industry rationalisation Ian became part of BMG Resources Victoria, formerly the Readymix Group. Ian was responsible for all the quality issues and technical support for all concrete and quarry operations in Victoria. 1980 1982 On transferring from Readymix in South Australia Ian took this position in Victoria. He was responsible for all the quality issues and technical support for all concrete and quarry operations in Victoria. Ian was invited to take this position as in Victoria quality issues were not up to recognised standards and in particular concrete quality including pumpability did not meet customer expectations. All these matters were resolved within nine months for all Victorian operations.

Other Activities 1974 1976 The CSR company in Johannesburg seconded Ian for nearly one year to assist with upgrading its Technical and Quality issues in South Africa for Concrete and Quarry Operations. Concrete Area Manager 1971 1974 Responsible for the Darwin operation of the Readymix Group. Ian had complete charge of the production, technical and marketing activities. On arrival the company was in poor condition and on exit the Company was leading the market. Relieving Concrete Manager 1970 Located in Hobart, Ian was responsible for Technical and Operational issues for three months. Quality Control Manager 1967 1971 Positioned in Adelaide, Ian was responsible for all Technical activities and quality control for the Concrete Division of the Readymix Group. Concrete Tester 1964 1967 Ian joined the Readymix Group in 1964 and became involved in all technical aspects of field-testing and the concrete laboratory. 1. On the team which conceived and wrote Readymix Australia Quality Control 2. Procedures and Technical Manual in the early 1970 s 3. Developed Readymix Australia Admixture business in Adelaide in 1978. 4. Developed Superflow Concept 5.
