Issue 47 August 2017 Palmers Green Safer Neighbourhood News Inspector Erica Crawshaw Welcome to the August newsletter. It s that time of year where some of us may be off on our holidays. Please ensure you secure your properties before you leave them. Lock window and doors. Ensure your alarms are set and garages locked. If you have a spare car it may help to keep it parked on the driveway so it looks like a resident is home. Also, it maybe a good idea to ask a relative or neighbour to pop round to check everything is all ok and to pick the post up from the porch so to minimize clues to burglars that you are not home. If you have timer light switches these can also be good and gives the impression someone maybe in. A house in complete darkness may be very appealing and tempting to a burglar as it could indicate to them that no one is home. If you are going on holiday I hope the sun shines for you and you have a safe journey and relaxing and restful time. I would just like to draw your attention also to thefts from motor vehicles which were on the rise in the month of JULY. PLEASE physically check the doors on your cars are locked before you leave them to avoid opportunistic thieves taking advantage of your goods and don t leave anything on show inside, like small change or plastic bags with property inside them.
