Re: e-newsletter Historic Opportunity for Historic Places and Heritage Property Owners L. Lipton updated the members on the Historic Opportunity for Historic places and Heritage Property Owner and noted that a Bill C-323 - An Act to Amend the Income Tax Act is being proposed. It was mentioned that staff should send the information to all designated property owners and advised them that they respond to the correspondence given by writing a letter to the Minister of Environment who is responsible for historic places in Canada and can also access the sample letter provided and submit as soon as possible by the end of January. It was also noted that L. Lipton would respond on behalf of the Heritage Committee. Action: THAT Staff to provide the newsletter pertaining to the proposed Bill C-323 - An Act to Amend the Income Tax Act proposing to create tax credits for historic places to all designated property owners. AND THAT L. Lipton responds on behalf of the Heritage Committee to the proposed Bill C-323. 5. FINANCIAL i) Heritage Section Financial Report Re: Dated November 2016 and December 2016 A correction to item 10 iv) of the November 10th, 2016, meeting was mentioned pertaining to the Horse and Buggy/Festival of Lights event. The committee approved the amount of $950.00 for the horse and buggy and the price came in at $1,017.00 which the committee acknowledged at the January 17th, 2017, meeting. Re: Friends of the Heritage Penetanguishene Account L. Lipton updated the committee and noted that the balance in the Friends of the Heritage Penetanguishene account as of October 31st is $5,144.12 and that she would like to see the funds allocated in 2017. Action: For information. 6. DESIGNATED PROPERTIES i) Verbal Update from A. Proulx Re: Heritage Property at 18 Robert Street East A. Proulx mentioned that the designation By-law went to Council on December 7th, 2016, and was approved by Council and that letters were sent to Ontario Heritage Trust, owners and the lawyer. It was also noted that she is in the process of ordering the plaque for the owner. Action: For information. 7. PENETANGUISHENE CENTENNIAL MUSEUM & ARCHIVES i) Verbal Update from J. Rogers Re: Museum Matters J. Rogers updated the members on the museum matters and noted that they will be celebrating Canada's 150th Anniversary with a parade of bicycles, tricycles, wagons etc. and people are invited to dress up in their best Canada 150th theme and would possibly win a prize. It was mentioned that the event will be called All Things Wheels Parade. It was noted that the Breakfast with Santa 2016 was very successful with almost 300 people being served. 8. NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS i) Verbal Update from L. Lipton Re: Heritage Conservation Plan at Waypoint L. Lipton provided an update to the committee and advised that she was in contact with James Hamilton, and that he responded that he had the opportunity to connect with Ministry of Infrastructure and confirmed that no program use for the three cottages has been identified. The Ministry of Infrastructure further confirmed that the structures in question are the sole responsibility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Infrastructure Ontario and not of Waypoint. L. Lipton advised that the Heritage Committee doesn't have input on any of the cottages in questions as they are provincially owned. L. Lipton also noted that she will be in contact with Bert Duclos, from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport to get answers pertaining to the buildings at Waypoint. The Committee had a discussion and they feel very frustrated on not getting any answers because this issue has been going on for several years. Action: For information. ii) Committee Discussion Re: Ongoing Items/Project The Committee discussed the 2017 Ongoing Items/Projects as per the following: Christmas Heritage Home Tours 2017 Glimpses of Our Past Booklet/Redo (Barb noted she would ask her son if he would be interested in doing an Apt) Plaque to Commemorate the Tulip Garden - Invoice was provided and the plaque was paid. (will be installed in the spring) Penetanguishene Road Signage Project - Purchase two or three bilingual signs and the locations sites to be discussed. Reflections of 150 Years of Ontario Heritage will be a two-day outdoor festival taking place at Parc Rotary Champlain Wendat Park in Penetanguishene that will celebrate our Heritage and culture and our homecoming, gathering local residents, surrounding communities and visitors from across Ontario to celebrate who we are as Canadians. The event will focus on various activities, music, food and entertainment that will bring together our local cultures of Francophone, Anglophone, First Nations and Metis, to be united as one, celebrating 150 years of history in Penetanguishene on Friday, July 28th and Saturday, July 29th, 2017. We are asking for volunteers to help out for that weekend. Winterama will be held on February 17th, 18th, 19th and the 20th and a breakdown of the tentative schedule was provided. Invitation to the Town's Official Plan on January 31st, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers and the Committee is looking for input. Penetanguishene Centennial Museum & Archives is having a travelling exhibit from Archives Ontario who will present Enslaved Africans in Upper Canada on February 1st to February 28th that will be held at the museum. 10.
