Future Demand Drivers for Canterbury 1. The rapid growth of the Asian leisure market to New Zealand - China market forecast to grow by 20%+ per year in the next five years 2. The restoration of trans-tasman flight capacity 3. The return of the conference market only 2% share of the New Zealand conference market (after EQ) has now grown to 11% 4. The completion of a new 2,000 person capacity Convention Centre in 2017/18 will enable us to host at least 75 major events per year at an average size of 700 people 5. The largest post earthquake rebuild project in New Zealand s history bringing planners, architects, project managers and financiers to Christchurch 6. The return of regular group tours to Christchurch to take advantage of the city s established South Island gateway status.
