WELCOME Welcome to summer at the Keene Family YMCA! Whether you re considering a traditional day camp or a specialty camp, summer at the Y is always filled with excitement, adventure, new friends, lifelong memories, and most of all fun! Our camp programs are based on the Y values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, delivered in a safe and supportive environment where safety is our top priority. We provide affordable, quality summer experiences for youth ages 3-12. There are few experiences as unique and special as camp. At camp, kids become part of a community and form friendships as they learn how to be more independent and contribute to a group. Amidst all the fun of sports, crafts, outdoor adventures, and more, children develop skills that build character and promote leadership. At the Y, we believe every child should be given the opportunity to experience the joy of summer camp. Don t miss out! YOUR CHILD S SAFETY Camper safety is our top priority. Our staff are highly trained and highly engaged in all aspects of Youth Development. All Y staff undergo reference and criminal background checks before being hired. Our counselors have competencies in team building, character development, conflict resolution, emergency procedures, child abuse awareness and prevention, CPR, First Aid, and age appropriate activity planning. CAMP OFFERED AT TWO LOCATIONS IN KEENE! Camp Wakonda, Speciality Camps, and Gymnastics Camps are located at: Keene Family YMCA 200 Summit Road The Y offers an outdoor venue with fields for sports and games, and nearby walking trails for nature adventures. The indoor spaces include: rock climbing wall, swimming pools, gymnasium, and multipurpose spaces for rainy day camp activities. Camp Hummingbirds is located at: Jonathan Daniels Preschool 227 Maple Avenue This is the home of our school year preschool program. This site offers two classroom spaces, fenced in playground, tennis courts, baseball field, and walking trails.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The Keene Family YMCA serves people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and incomes, and strives to make camp fees affordable for all families. Through the support of donors, we are able to offer Financial Assistance to qualifying families. Applications are available at: KEENEYMCA.ORG/SUMMERCAMP or at the Keene Family YMCA Welcome Center Financial Assistance applications should be submitted with your completed registration packet. You will be contacted by the camp registrar to finalize your registration and make payment. SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS The Keene Family YMCA strives to provide all campers with a safe and positive camp experience. Parent communication is key to the success of each and every camper. Please set up a meeting with the appropriate camp director prior to registering if your child has any special needs. CAMP FEES Camp rates vary by camp and require: $25 Deposit /week per child $10 Registration Fee /one per child EXTENDED MORNING OPTION 7am - 9am $25/week per child
CAMP REGISTRATION INFORMATION & POLICIES Camp is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited. We recommend early registration to secure your spot. HOW TO REGISTER: Registration packets can be downloaded or picked up at the Y Drop off or mail completed packet with deposit per week and one time registration fee to: Keene Family YMCA Attn: Deb Ellison 200 Summit Road Keene, NH 03431 A health form with physical must be on file with the YMCA. You will receive an email confirmation and digital copy of the camp handbook, including what to bring and camp details, within 1 week of registration. PAYMENT OPTIONS AND FEES: We offer three payment options for Y Summer Camp: Payment in full at time of registration Automatic credit card withdrawal on the Monday 2 weeks prior to each week of camp for which your child is registered Automatic credit card withdrawal on June 1 st, July 1 st, and/or Aug 1 st. PROCESSING FEE: A $10 fee will automatically be charged to your account if, after initial registration, you require any alteration to your camp selections, including, but not limited to, switching camp options or weeks. No changes can be made after the Wednesday before the first day of camp.
REFUND POLICY REFUNDS: Refunds, minus the deposit, will only be issued to those requesting cancellation more than 30 days before the camp date. NO refunds will be given for failure to attend but will be issued if attendance is prohibited for medical reasons. Proper medical documentation is required. RETURNED CHECK/CREDIT CARD FEES: Campers will not be allowed to attend camp with a balance due. Returned checks and declined credit cards will result in a $25 fee. This will be in addition to any fees that your bank or credit card company may charge. All balances are due two weeks prior to camp. Camp Hummingbirds Ages 3-5 PRESCHOOL CAMP Our Preschool camp will help ease the transition for our youngest campers from a preschool setting to summer day camp experience. The schedule creates daily consistency, allowing campers to experience all that a camp offers in a supportive and nurturing way. The campers will be bused to the YMCA two days per week for swimming in the YMCA Pool. Activities will include arts and crafts, sports, games, nature walks and explorations, friendship building, songs and so much more. The camp will utilize both the classroom and the outside areas throughout the day. There will be rest time after lunch for the campers who may need to rest. Camp Wakonda Entering Grades 1-6 CAMP WAKONDA Camp activities may include sports, games, crafts, team building exercises, and STEM activities to engage campers. At camp your child will enjoy the pool for instructed swim time to enhance swimming skills and water safety. The campers will enjoy free swim on Fridays. Campers will build self-esteem, character, and long term friendships! This year at Wakonda we will begin a new tradition: THE BEAD PROGRAM. This program fosters our cause of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility by awarding campers unique tokens of achievement for their camp experiences. Campers will bring home stories each and every day of how they earned their beads. Whether campers attend Camp Wakonda for one week, or all eight, each week will be a unique camp experience with fun themes and special activities. GYMNASTICS & MORE Ninja Camp Ages 6-12 Designed for aspiring ninjas everywhere! During this camp, campers will push themselves to beat the clock on timed obstacle courses, learn to move swiftly through agility courses, and learn safety rolls and falls. Campers will learn how to work together to build obstacle and agility courses. Our talented camp staff uses a positive and enthusiastic approach with campers to build strength, balance, and selfconfidence. Gymnastics & More Ages 6-12 Does your camper want to experience a little bit of everything the YMCA has to offer? Join us for Gymnastics & More Camp, where campers will get to play in the gymnastics area, swim in the pool, climb the rock wall, dance in the studios, play in the racquetball courts, and spend time outside. This camp is designed with the perfect balance of gymnastics activities and traditional summer camp experience. Each week we will have a different theme and activities. Our talented camp staff uses a positive and enthusiastic approach with campers to build strength, balance, and self-confidence. RATES: Y Member: $215 Community: $235 Week 1 Jun 25-28 Backyard Bash Week 6 Jul 29 - Aug 2 Hollywood Blvd Week 8 Aug 12-16 Y-lympics Gymnastics Skills Camp Ages 6-12 This camp is designed for the seasoned gymnast looking to improve on their current skill base in our state of the art gymnastics area. Campers will get a chance to improve their skills, build on strength and flexibility, while enjoying their week with other gymnasts. Campers will be grouped by skill level and rotate through all events each day. Our talented coaching staff has 20 years of combined coaching experience with all levels, ages and abilities. At the end of the week, campers will perform their newly improved or developed skills for friends and family. Outdoor Adventure Camp Grades 3-5 SPECIALTY CAMPS Perfect for your outdoor child! Campers will be out and about this week experiencing outdoor rock climbing, exploring local hiking trails, a Camp Takodah visit and more! Depending on field trip times, campers will also have the opportunity to use the Y pool during the camp week. * Activities may change due to weather conditions and are not guaranteed. RATES: Y Member: $230 Community: $255 Week 4 Jul 15-19 Week 6 Jul 29 - Aug 2 Camp Smorgasbord Grades 1-5 Campers have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of fun activities throughout the week including cooking, science experiments, lego competitions, outdoor activities, and a field trip, along with 3 days of swimming in the Y pool weather permitting. Creative Arts Camp Grades 1-5 Is your child a future Picasso? This hands-on camp experience introduces young artists to a variety of activities including crafts, painting, drawing, and sculpting, along with 3 days of swimming! Friday includes a Parent Art Show in the Lobby from 3-4pm. *Please send your camper with appropriate clothing for the freedom to express their creative side. MINI AND KINDER CAMPS Mini Camp Entering Grades K-5 Mini camp is the flexible transition from summer vacation to the school year. This camp is offered a-la-carte style with registration by day to day basis, not by week. Mini camp offers a similar structure to Wakonda but with more flexibility in the activity choices made during the camp day. Campers will participate in group games, creative projects and of course get those last laps into the pool before school begins. Camp Dates Aug 19 - Aug 23 Rates Per Day Y Member: $35 Community: $40 Extended Day: $5 Kinder Camp Entering Kindergarten Kinder camp is the flexible transition from summer vacation to the school year. It is designed with the kindergartner in mind and fills the gap between summer and start of kindergarten.
