UPCOMING TRAINING Respectful Workplace Training will be held on July 22 and 23. County Manager County staff, CEDR, local municipalities and representatives from the private sector met with Congresswomen Bonomici and her staff this week. Participants provided information to the Congresswomen on overarching concerns facing our region such as workforce development, education and infrastructure funding, transportation, hazard resiliency, and concerns with FEMA flood mapping. CRISIS RESPITE FACILITY Clatsop County, Greater Oregon Behavioral Health Inc. (GOBHI), Columbia Memorial and Providence Seaside hospitals continue working on developing a partnership for creating a crisis respite facility in Clatsop County. At the Board s meeting next week, commissioners will be asked to consider engaging with legal counsel to create a separate legal entity, of which Clatsop County would be a member, to oversee the crisis respite facility. ENTERPRISE ZONE County staff are finalizing supplemental application material for Business Oregon s review for the creation of a new Enterprise Zone in Clatsop County. There are four spots available this year for enterprise zones in Oregon, but Businesss Oregon has received five applications, which has created a competitive situation for enterprise zone designation. Co-sponsors of the application include the City of Warrenton, Port of Astoria, and Clatsop County. PACIFIC POWER DISCUSSION County staff met with Pacific Power representatives this week to discuss economic development opportunities in Clatsop County and to discuss potential energy needs associated with those opportunities. Staff provided a tour of the North Coast Business Park. Community Development The county is accepting applications for two open seats on the county Planning Commission.
