Eco Expo Asia 3-6 November 2010 Fair Update Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd are going to organise the 5th Edition of Eco Expo Asia from 3 6 November 2010 at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong with the Environment Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the co-organiser. Event Positioning: Hong Kong as an international marketplace for environmental protection technologies Eco Expo Asia is a reputable and sizeable platform in Hong Kong and Asia for promoting environmental protection at all levels, including Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumer exchange as well as Business-to-Government interaction. Apart from marketing the capabilities, product and technologies available from local and overseas enterprises in the environmental protection sector, Eco Expo Asia also presents business opportunities and investment projects in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland in particular the Pearl River Delta. Fair Review of Eco Expo Asia 2009 The 2009 event attracted over 10,000 professional buyers from 105 countries and regions to visit the 200 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, both demonstrating over 60% in attendance on last year. First-time group pavilions from the Chinese Mainland (including Dongguan, Foshan, Fujian, Guangzhou, Shenzhen), European Union, France, Macau and the United Kingdom were mounted along with Hong Kong. Over 140 officials from the Chinese Mainland as visitors/ exhibitors for Eco Expo Asia 2009, including Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Developmental, Economic and Trade Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, Development & Reform Bureau etc. Eco Expo Asia 2010 Theme The 5 th edition of Eco Expo Asia will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo. Business Solutions to Climate Change will be the main theme of the 2010 fair. Special focus on Green Transportation, Green Building and Green Technology, thematic zones will be set up to showcase the latest technologies of these three aspects.
Concurrent Event Eco Asia Conference will be held concurrently with the fair which invites professionals and experts in the environmental field to share their insights and experience on the development of Green PRD and Green Transportation. A one-day session on Green Building will be organised in cooperation with Hong Kong Green Building Council and Professional Green Building Council. The last day of the fair will be opened to public which public day seminars will be organised to increase the public awareness on environmental protection. Synergies with C40 Conference The 2010 event will be held coincide with the city s hosting of a C40 Conference at HKCEC on two key aspects of the climate change solutions: green building efficiency and electric vehicles. The C40 Climate Leadership Group is a group of the world's largest cities committed to tackling climate change (List of C40 Cities is enclosed). City Mayors, eco-related ministers, high level government officials and professionals from over 40 cities from Africa, Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East and the Chinese mainland (including Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai will converge in Hong Kong to share their insights. All C40 cities and the provincial and city governments in the Pearl River Delta, Shanghai and Beijing will be invited to participate as exhibitor and visitor to Eco Expo Asia. Networking activities involving the government officials from C40 cities, the Chinese Mainland as well as Hong Kong will be organised during Eco Expo Asia. Recruitment Update The return of French Pavilion (organised by the Consulate General of France and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong), UK (organised by British Consulate General Hong Kong and UK Trade & Investment) and Hong Kong Pavilion (organised by Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association) has been confirm. First-time US Pavilion supported by Green Export Enabler Programme (GEEP) will be mounted. The organisers are in discussion with Bangladesh, EU, Israel, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Spain and Sweden for group participation.
