IGHC Ground Handling Conference 6 9 May 2012 l Prague, Czech Republic

Welcome message from IATA Dear IGHC Members, Delegates, Honoured Guests, Exhibitors and Sponsors, It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 25th Anniversary IATA Ground Handling Conference. Ground Services in IATA has come a long way since the Traffic Services Department set up the Aviation Ground Services Agreement group in 1982 to ensure proper industry review of the Standard Ground Handling Agreement. In 1987, the IGHC was established with the express purpose of providing structure between airlines and the ground service providers and a lot has been achieved since. The IGHC is a unique event, providing an unrivalled networking opportunity for the 650+ global aviation professionals; airlines, ground service providers, airport authorities and regulators to discuss the major operations issues. This year the IGHC will focus on ISAGO, IGOM and the Ground Damage Database. This initiative is so important to the industry and will support our safety goal. We embrace transparency and effective cooperation between the airlines and ground service providers to enhance safety and efficiency. This is the silver jubilee anniversary for the IGHC and what better year to reinvigorate the focus on ground operations with a new department within IATA. IATA will adjust the governance process to have GHC (Ground Handling Committee) as one of the groups reporting to OPC. I wish each and every one of you a fruitful and successful 25th IGHC and I am looking forward to meeting you all in Prague. Guenther Matschnigg Senior Vice President Safety, Operations & Infrastructure
