A Message from the CFO Happy New Year to everyone, well happy Financial New Year anyway, which means you get to hear a few words from the Chief Financial Officer this month. Exciting news for our great members, especially if you like great beer, Yaralla s Craft Beer Club has begun. Starting off with Hazy One from Byron Bay Brewery, who wouldn t want to join, different beers, new tapas menu and fun games, the only thing missing is you and of course your friends. This is a stressful time of year and I find the best way to relieve some of the stress from our normal day to day work is to go to the gym, but it is always hard to get started. There are always new classes to try and with a new timetable starting on the 4th July, this is a perfect opportunity to come down and see what s new. Our Instructor Shaun will be running Instructors Choice for July and is doing a CORE BLAST Class. We had some wonderful functions at the Gladstone Events Centre during the month of June and can see more for July. It is always encouraging to see local organisations supporting the local community, make sure you get in early and start thinking about any function that you will be holding in the last half of the year, Christmas will be here before you know it. Finally I would like to say a huge hello to all our friendly members, I don t often get a chance to sneak out of the office and say hi, but when I do I am always greeted with happy smiles and heartfelt hellos. So next time you see me make sure you say hi, I am always will to have a quick chat. I hope everyone has a great start to this New (financial) Year. INTRODUCING... Flying High From the 10th of July, any member who spends $10 with us at the club will win an entry into our flying high promotion. Each entry will be a paper plane that needs to be made and flown by our players. From 7pm each Friday members can fly their planes at any time and try to hit the targets provided. Planes that hit targets will automatically be in the major prize draw and some will also come with a cash prize. What s on at yaralla fitness centre New group fitness timetable We re changing it up at YFC with our new Winter timetable. It will all start on Monday July 3rd and we will be introducing our NEW Instructor s Choice class on Tuesday mornings at 7am. This class will change instructor s every 4 weeks so it will be a bit of a surprise each time you come. Shaun will be taking on the first 4 weeks and has promised us a Core Blast class on week 1. The Yaralla Junior Sports Star awards are now up and running for the 9th year in a row. With over $15,000 per year donated to great sporting individuals in Gladstone, this is undeniably the greatest sporting support program in the region. To nominate a Sports Star today, head to our website yaralla.com.au Jack Small Gladstone basketball At only 13 Jack s hard work has paid off with his selection into the U15 North Queensland Emerging team, which is selected out of the representative players from Hervey Bay through to Cairns. The Emerging Team travels to America for two weeks where they are involved in various training camps and a six day college competition. Sophie duff Gladstone Little Athletics In February of this year Sophie headed to the QLD Little Athletics Championships where she took home the gold medal in the 15 years Triple Jump. This amazing accomplishment got Sophie to the Australian Athletics Championships in March where she won gold in the 15 years National Triple Jump! Jace Arnold Gladstone basketball Jace was selected to represent QLD North U17 last year where he got the opportunity to travel to the U.S.A to play in the city of Los Angeles. Most recently he was selected to represent QLD North in the U18 Australian National Championships in Townsville, this team went on to win the silver medal. Cody Anderson Miriam Vale Junior Golf Cody recently played the Australian Junior Age Division Golf Championships in Yeppoon where he finished fourth overall in the 7-8 year boys division and second in the 7 year boys division. As a result, he has been selected to represent Australia in the World Junior Stars of Golf Tournament in Las Vegas and the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games Golf Championship to be held in Temecula, U.S.A in July.
