The International Chamber of Shipping, the London-based leading international association of the shipping industry which represents all over 80% of the world fleet and which has recently elected our managing director Emanuele Grimaldi as its Vice-President, believes it is time for IMO to step up to the plate and contribute more to the fight against global warming in order to match the ambitions laid down in the Paris Agreement. ICS goal is to maintain international shipping s annual total CO2 emissions (representing only 2.2% of the total emissions) below 2008 levels and to reduce them, on a tonne/kilometre basis, by at least 50% by 2050, compared to 2008. These targets constitute a decisive signal that shipping is playing its part. It is important, we believe, that the IMO remain in charge of regulation designed to achieve these goals; otherwise, global operators risk having to comply with a patchwork of regional measures. Global measures are more likely to achieve targets without causing trade disruption and distortion of competition. All modes of transport are headed towards a fossil fuel-free future, but this will only be possible if alternative fuels are identified and developed, alongside appropriate bunkering infrastructure. The IMO has led the way on the reduction of sulphur in fuel through the introduction of a Sulphur Emissions Control Area in the North and Baltic Seas. The International Chamber believes the IMO can now repeat this success with CO2 emissions. At the Grimaldi Group we are convinced that investing in green technology makes sense, both for us and for the planet. We have successfully reduced fuel consumption, meaning vessels produce less emissions, while at the same time decreasing our bunker fuel bill. Through investments eceeding 100 million, the fleet of our sister company Finnlines has been equipped with scrubbers that take all the noious So fumes out of vessel emissions. Initial results suggest this low-sulphur regulation has triggered a substantial drop in sulphur oides in the air, both for coastal towns and further in land. This is good for human health and the environment as a whole. Our efforts in the field of innovation are continuous and we are already working on a revolutionary system of batteries which will produce energy onboard our vessels while berthed at port, thus replacing the consumption of gasoil. As you will see elsewhere in this issue of G-News, the Grimaldi Group goes strength to strength. ACL has taken delivery of the latest G4 fourth generation vessel. These vessels are faster, greener, more fuel efficient and boast larger capacity than their predecessors. We have also this year upgraded services between the Mediterranean and North America with direct calls in Meico, a market of significant potential, thereby plugging the country into our worldwide network. Elsewhere you will see that we have been honoured with General Motors Supplier of the year award, and also Shipping company of the year at the North America Automotive Global Awards. Our Mediterranean operator Minoan Lines was flattered to be named Top corporate brand in Greece.

Fleet Sky delivered The fourth G4 vessel to be deployed on the ACL service linking North Europe, the US and Canada Last 22nd of March, during a short ceremony, the m/vessel Sky was delivered at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai (China). Attending the delivery ceremony were ACL s President Andrew J. Abbott, together with Pierluigi Marmo, New Buildings Project Manager of the Grimaldi Group. This G4-generation vessel built by the Chinese shipyard for Container Line is the fourth of an order of five units made by Grimaldi s daughter company. With a length of 296 metres, a beam of 37.60 metres and a gross tonnage of 100,430 tonnes, the Sky has an innovative design, with an increased capacity both for rolling and container freight: she can load 3,800 TEUs, 28,900 square meters of rolling freight as well as 1,300 cars. With its wider and shallower ro/ro ramps and the higher decks for the accommodation of rolling freight with fewer columns, enables much easier loading and discharging operations of oversized cargo. The G4 vessels are faster, greener and more efficient than their predecessors, with a 105% increased container capacity, 31% increased car capacity and 45% increased ro/ro capacity. They are more environmentally friendly, with emissions per TEU reduced by 65% compared to the G3 units they have replaced. Fuel consumption per TEU has been reduced by no less than 50%, with a speed increase of 10%. Upon arrival in Europe, the m/vessel Sky will be deployed on the ACL ly service linking North Europe, the US and Canada. GNEWS 3

New services The Grimaldi Group etends its services to Meico A new ro/ro direct service to Veracruz has been recently launched New York Halifa Baltimore Houston Jacksonville Veracruz The Grimaldi Group has announced an important enhancement of its overseas maritime services: a new direct service to Meico, dedicated to the transport of cars, rolling freight and project cargo has been recently launched. The link is an upgrade of a regular service between the Mediterranean and North America, already performed by the Group with great success since 2015. The new etended service connects the Italian ports of Civitavecchia and Savona and the Turkish port of Gemlik with the North American ports of Halifa (Canada), New York, Baltimore, Jacksonville and Houston, as well as Veracruz in Meico. The service has a ly frequency for destinations in North America and a fortnight frequency for Meico. The service is the first direct and regular link between the Mediterranean and North America for rolling freight. Thanks to the deployment of Pure Car&Truck Carriers with a loading capacity of 3,000 linear meters of rolling freight and 3,000 cars each, the regular service ensures a transit time of only 12 days between Italy and North America and 20 days for Meico. "Meico is a market which reveals a significant potential and has attracted important foreign investments in various sectors," said Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing Director of the Grimaldi Group. "The inclusion of a regular call in the port of Veracruz, one of the major of the country, is an absolute innovation in which we 4 GNEWS

Events IMO Secretary General visits Confitarma Savona Civitavecchia Gemlik have chosen to invest to support import/ eport trades with Italy and the rest of Europe thanks to our wide network of services." With this investment, the Group consolidates its worldwide leadership in short and deep sea maritime connections, part of an advanced logistics supply chain that provides door-to-door services. In addition to direct calls, Meico is also linked, through transhipment, to over 130 ports served by the Group in the Mediterranean, North Europe, South America and West Africa. Last 12 th of April, Kitack Lim, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), together with Simona Vicari, Italian Undersecretary of State for Infrastructure and Transport participated at Confitarma s (the Italian Shipowners Association) Council in Rome, chaired by Emanuele Grimaldi. The Secretary General of IMO Lim Kitack epressed his appreciation for the work done by Italy within the Organisation. He recalled that the objectives of IMO are to promote a safe, environmentally friendly, efficient and sustainable maritime transport and the activities of the 172 associated Member States are regular and intense in order to reach a global regulatory regime to be implemented uniformly and effectively. Undersecretary of State Simona Vicari emphasised the role of maritime economy in Italy, with a value of 35 billion every year, and underlined that the sector is one of the few where employment remained stable despite the crisis of recent years. Furthermore, she highlighted the need for proper international regulations with regards to environmental protection, stressing that a contribution of all parties involved is required, governments to maritime operators up to associations to re-launch the Italian maritime transport sector and strengthen Italy s leadership in Europe and worldwide. In his speech, President Grimaldi stressed that the performance improvements of the maritime sector have been recorded thanks to the implementation of IMO Conventions. In the majority of global markets, it is etremely difficult for sub-standard ships to operate avoiding detentions and penalties. The IMO Conventions led to a gradual conversion of maritime transport, which today represents the safest, most efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transport. Emanuele Grimaldi reaffirmed that IMO is the most suitable organisation for the establishment of effective rules ensuring equal conditions for all maritime operators. The adoption of new regulations requires significant investments by shipowners. In this contet, National Governments should choose a clear position regarding the implementation of sulphur content limits in marine fuels or any eceptions to the Ballast Water Management Convention, which will come into force net 8 th of September, although this has not been ratified by Italy yet, added Emanuele Grimaldi. ACHIEVEMENTS Emanuele Grimaldi elected Vice President of ICS Last 10th of May, in Istanbul, Emanuele Grimaldi, president of Confitarma and Managing Director of the Group, was elected Vice- President of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), during the Annual General Meeting of the Association. The leading international association of shipping industry based in London, to which different shipping companies and associations more than 37 countries are affiliated, represents all the shipping sectors with over 80% of the world fleet. «Being elected to the top of this important organization is such an honor for me said Emanuele Grimaldi - not only a personal point of view but also and above all because this is an eplicit acknowledgement by world shipping to Confitarma s action as well as to the role of Italian shipping that, despite the crisis that has been etending for almost ten years now, has proven to be able to face with courage and determination the crisis of the maritime market, keeping on sailing on the seas of the world with a young and technologically advanced fleet, keeping relevant positions in the world ranking». During the venue, the president of Confitarma underlined the challenges which shipping has to face, especially in the environmental field. «It is of fundamental importance to be present in an international assembly where maritime strategies are elaborated, deepening operational and legal issues, of maritime labor, of best practices and of the development of sustainable maritime transport. Last but not least, ICS is in contact with most of the international and intergovernmental institutions, within which decisions that affect the world maritime industry, beginning with IMO, are taken», concluded Emanuele Grimaldi. 6 GNEWS

Partnership between Grimaldi and Veronesi Group An interesting partnership, initiated in January 2017, was realized through the cooperation between Grimaldi, Veronesi Group (FEED Division) and Intermodal Trasporti, focused on shifting Veronesi s cargo flows road to sea through the use of the Grimaldi three-times-a- link between the ports of Venice Marghera and Bari. An ambitious achievement, realized thanks to the transport, on a ly bases, of 50 vehicles on the Marghera/Bari maritime link and viceversa, which allowed the Veronesi Group to obtain important environmental sustainability results, thanks to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Infact, trucks that previously travelled for 800 km now only run a very limited road section as most of the route is now performed by sea. We have made the commercial relations between Northern and Southern Italy more competitive nowadays, says Guido Grimaldi, Corporate Short Sea Shipping Commercial Director, adding that the project realised with Veronesi s management is a far-sighted and well-interpreted model. Partnership Motorships Agencies Copenhagen, in cooperation with Damco Denmark, have transported on Grimaldi vessels three rally cars of TEAM GLAD, which participated at the 2017 Intercontinental Rally, the annual off-road competition and adventure trans-african rally. One of the cars ranked the best position in its Landrover class. The rally started in Almeria (Spain) on January 23 rd, and finished in Dakar on February 5 th. The cars were shipped back to Europe on the m/v Brasile. Intercontinental rally cars on board Grimaldi vessels Grimaldi Lines sponsors the 20 th edition of the 36-hour endurance moto tour The Greek Moto Guzzi Club is staging this year the 20 th edition of the 36-hour endurance moto tour, the famous Greek motorcycle tour that covers usually about 800 km per day. For this anniversary edition, the Greek Moto Guzzi Club, the organiser of the event, trusted in Grimaldi Lines: the about 170 riders embarked on the 5 th of May Patras on board the Euroferry Olympia and disembarked in Brindisi, where they visited many scenic areas of Magna Grecia. They then returned to Igoumenitsa the day after on board the same vessel, to challenge mostly deserted mountain roads of Northern Greece. Grimaldi Lines sponsored the event.
