4 KEY FINDINGS INTERNATIONAL The year to July 218 saw a record breaking 2.69m international visitor arrivals, an increase of 2.7% on the previous year. The month of July saw 168,4 international visitors, down.5% on the previous July. Holiday visitor arrivals contributed the most to the annual growth, numbers were up 3.% on the previous 12 months. Arrivals from China saw the biggest growth, up 1.5% on the previous year. For the year ending June 218, international guest nights in commercial accommodation (3.47m) were up 1.9% on the previous year. International spend was $4.33b, up 5.9% for the year. In the year to July 218, Chinese visitors spent $91m, up 12.% on the previous year. Spending from the UK ($335m) was up 6.7%, the US ($375m) up 2.8% and Australia ($828m) up 3.2%. DOMESTIC There were 5.66m overnight visits by domestic visitors in Auckland in the year to July 218, up 2.7% on the previous year. Visiting friends and relatives (VFR) was the main reason for domestic visitation to Auckland, with 2.9m overnight visits recorded for the year to July 218 (up 2.9% on the previous 12 months). For the year ending July 218, the highest visitation of all regions to Auckland was from Waikato-based visitors (91,431 overnight visits), down 7.1% on the previous year. There was strong growth from Bay of Plenty visitors (743,969 visits), up 8.6% compared to the previous year. For the year ending June 218, domestic guest nights in commercial accommodation (3.82m) were down 5.4%. Domestic spend was $3.99b and had increased by 6.1%. OVERALL There were 7.29m guest nights in commercial accommodation in Auckland in the year to June 218, down 2.1% on the previous year. In the year to July 218, total tourism spend in Auckland was $8.32b, up 6.% on the previous year.

7 Strong growth from the Chinese market in the year to July 218, up 1.5% There was strong growth for the Chinese market up 1.5% for the year end July 218 with a 1.3% decrease compared to the month of July 217. There was also strong year on year growth for the year from Korea (11.3%) and the US (2.7%). There was a year on year decrease in the UK market (7.8%) and July arrivals were down 26.6% compared with the previous July. Visiting friends and relatives (VFR) was the main reason for domestic visitation to Auckland, with 2.9m overnight visits recorded for the year to July 218 (up 2.9%). 14 Strong growth for visitors from the Bay of Plenty to Auckland, up 8.6% 1,2, 1,, Domestic overnight visits by visitor origin For the year ending July 218, the highest visitation of all regions to Auckland was from Waikato-based visitors with 91,431 overnight visits (down 7.1% on the previous year). There was strong growth from Bay of Plenty visitors (743,969 visits), up 8.6% compared to the previous year. Overnight visits from Wellington were also high (539,492 visits), up 4.7% on July 217. 19 For YE June 218, on average Chinese visitors stayed 9.6 nights in Auckland, up 1.% In the year to March 218, the average length of stay for Chinese visitors was 9.6 nights, up 1.% on the previous year. Average length of stay for Australia (down 15.5% to 4.9 nights) and the US (down 9.8% to 4.6 nights) was down. UK visitors had the second highest average length of stay (8. nights). However, this was down significantly (4.7%) on the previous year. The average length of stay for German visitors was 7.2 nights (down 25.8%) and Canadians 5.9 nights (down 27.2%).
