Thank you for your interest in East Bay Camp & Retreat. We are here to serve you! Reading this Summer Camp Planning Guide is the first step toward setting up your program for 2013. Group leaders will find a list of activities that we offer along with creative ideas for this coming season. Please read through this whole booklet, as it will help explain all the ways that our staff can assist in making this summer a huge success for your program. Pilchard Hall Pilchard Hall and Hummel Lodge are our main youth and adult retreat buildings. These buildings are attached by a breezeway and are also air-conditioned. Attractive and clean, Pilchard and Hummel combined have 3 meeting rooms, full and twin bunk beds, and fireplaces; and they sleep a total of 85 people. Out back you will find a volleyball court and a trail to Inspiration Point.
Maples Camp Ground The Maples area has seventeen cabins that sleep ten people each. Altpeter is a year round lodge that sleeps twenty four. Maples camp has all the features of a summer camp! The Maples shelter pictured above is our largest outdoor meeting facility. There are two campfire circles and a volleyball court, and pictured below is our gaga ball pit. Just across the southern bridge you will find our basketball court and to the west our beach!
Aldersgate Camp Ground The Aldersgate campground has two year round buildings: Gatehouse and Wesley Lodge. Wesley sleeps twenty people, and it has an indoor fireplace and a private campfire ring out back. Gatehouse sleeps twelve and has a large breakout space for group functions. Aldersgate has four brick cabins that sleep twelve people, each with a second campfire ring.
Woods Camp Woods Camp is located near our athletic field and pool. There are five cabins, each with two private bathrooms and two rooms that sleep sixteen people each. The main lodge, Witherspoon, has a small private bed room for two and has the only kitchen outside of our main dining hall. Just past Woods Camp are our nature and hay ride trails. Our tree climbing instructor will come directly to your site!
Dining Hall Welcome to the East Bay Dining Hall! We have four separate dining areas in the hall, so our various guest groups can enjoy their own space. Also, we don t want any one to miss out on a week of camp because of a food allergy, so tell us about your special dietary needs! Let us know about special requests or birthdays. We would love to help make your week of camp spe- Cook-outs and Snacks Hot dogs, s mores, giant pretzels, ice cream socials and more! Nothing is more fun then having your own grill out, campfire roast, or special snack. Just let us know what you have in mind, and we ll help to make it happen.
Waterfront, Beach, & Boats When its hot outside there is only one place to be in the water! Sailing, lessons, pontoon rides There s lots to do on the water, too! Take sailing lessons and schedule sailboat trips out onto the lake. A pontoon boat is available, also, for those who prefer motors to sails!
Seager-Denham Recreation Center The Seager-Denham Recreation Center & Athletic Field have the following features and activities: Features Activities Indoor pool Outdoor pool Diving board (outdoor) Basketball (pool unit) Indoor air-conditioned gym Two baseball diamonds Soccer nets Dodge ball Baseball & softball Kickball & crazy kickball Soccer Football Relays & tag games Frisbee golf or baseball Indoor volleyball
Gift Shop Afternoon or evening snack? Our camp store is stocked and ready to go! Build it into the price of your camp or use our prepay system. All left over money is returned. Call our office manager for details. Teams Course Does your group work well together as a team? Are you looking for an edge on the competition? Do you enjoy celebrating a victory together as a family? When was the last time you really trusted the person next to you? Explore faith, trust, friendship and community on our teams course! Four hours of team building is only $6.00 a person. Call our office for more details!
How tall is that maple tree? If you don t climb to the top you will never know. There are huge maple trees to climb in Maples and Aldersgate. There are big oaks in Hummel Woods, too. A certified tree-climbing expert will teach and assist your group with the needed skills. The cost is $6.00 per participant. Archery Range Test your skill at our new archery range in Hummel Woods! East Bay camp will provide archery range staff for instruction or practice. Leave camp knowing that you could be the next Robin Hood! Archery has a daily fee of $2.00 per participant. Call our site or program staff to arrange scheduling for the archery range. Tree Climbing
Hay Rides Hay rides are a great way to get from A to Beach or any other location! On the way, try to spy the various feathered and four-legged creatures that share the campground with us, all at a low cost of $1.50 a person.
