A WORD ON SAFETY FROM GRAHAM MUNSELL Planning for your total ride? We discuss and talk about using the T-Clock procedure for our motorcycle before the riding season begins and before each ride. We must not overlook the auxiliary equipment that will accompany us on our journey. A recent trip brought this ma er to the forefront. All equipment requires some regular maintenance. Bearings are among the most needy of these parts. Remember, water likes the inside of the bearing housings just as well as the lubrica ng grease! The recommenda on is to pull the bearings regularly, annually or at least biennially, clean and repack them properly. Review the procedure online for the proper process. As a final jus fica on, the three hours you might spend correc ng this oversight can be much be er spent riding to new and favorite des na ons. Ride, but, ride o en and safely. Graham Munsell, OREGON District Ride Educator, Region I, GWRRA

Hello From your Oregon District Director JUNE I can t believe it s June already and all the rallies are just around the corner. Star ng with Oregon s in Silver Lake. It s me to make your reserva ons, the deadline is fast approaching. We are also celebra ng Chapter I s 30 th birthday. It will be a ride to The Dallas, Oregon for lunch, at Cousins Restaurant on June 10. Please see the district or chapters website for more informa on, everyone is invited to join in the fun. David and I will be in Canada, but we wish Chapter I a happy birthday. If you are interested in following our travels through Canada on our way to Wing Ding and beyond. Here is our web address for the blog www.noagendatwo.com. We will miss everyone this summer, but you s ll can contact us by email. Have a great riding season and have lots of fun at the rallies. Those of you going to Wing Ding we will see you here. Shirley and David Oregon DD

Trent s Talk On April 29th, we had another successful Right Turn Ride. We had 58 entries at registration and there were 75 people at the awards ceremony. A big thank you goes out to Cycle Country who allowed us to start at their location on Portland Road, and for providing the donuts and coffee before the ride. Thank you to Pietro s Pizza for letting us end our ride there and for doing a great job providing for our needs. The biggest thank you goes to everyone who participated in the ride. Whether it was the planning, the staging, manning a check point, or completing the ride. Without everyone's involvement, the ride would not have been the success it was. On May 13 th, Chapter G and Chapter I held a combined Chapter Gathering. The Gathering was held at the Woodburn RV Park. We had 40 people in attendance. Besides members from Chapter G and Chapter I, we had 8 members in attendance from different chapters in Washington. Bijou and Mike White cooked breakfast for everyone. Once the gathering began, we had a guest speaker from the Marion County Sherriff s Office. Deputy Ethan Griffith who spent the last 8 years as a Marion County Motorcycle Deputy, spoke to us about motorcycle safety and then opened the discussion for questions and answers. All the ladies in attendance received a rose and some chocolate for Mother s Day. The rest of the meeting was used to pass on information about upcoming events in Oregon, Washington, and for the Region. Look at the June Calendar to see what is happening in June and keep an eye out for emails that come out as we add more activities as we learn about them. We are looking forward to seeing you at one or more of our upcoming activities. Be safe out there, the only person truly looking out for you is yourself. ~Trent

Chapter Directors Corner June is here and the sun finally appeared!! Woo Hoo!! Last month we held the very first Combined Chapter Gathering, and it was very successful. Beside members from Chapter G and Chapter I we had 8 reps from other chapters for a total of 40 people. Cindy and I want to personally thank Bijou and Mike White for cooking and serving our breakfast, best deal for $7.00 I ve had in awhile. Trent and I are in discussion to do this a couple of times a year, if we can. June is a very special month for us this year, as we will be celebrating Chapter I s 30th Birthday as a chartered chapter in GWRRA. This is quite a deal to be active in GWRRA for this long. We even still have some of the original charter members around. We want everyone to join us for lunch in The Dalles at Cousins Restaurant for our Birthday Gathering and ride. Come on 2, 3 or 4 wheels!! July we will be meeting for the last time at Wichita Pub and Grill. As our attendance has become smaller at meetings, the Staff made the decision to make some changes. We will begin meeting at Megan s Corner at the United Methodist Church in Oregon City in August. The address is: 18955 South End Rd. Oregon City, OR. The new meeting time will be 9:30am. We will have a short informational meeting, with Coffee and/or Juice provided by the chapter, then we will head out on a ride or activity that will enable us to have some fun and lunch along the way. Some folks, myself included do not adapt well to change, but I think that this may help our chapter renew itself. Speaking on this point, I think that everyone should know that our chapter is diminishing, in that membership has declined due to folks not renewing. In one month we had 12 members not renew due to not riding anymore, inability to ride, family issues, health etc. Active membership has decreased a lot. And we are suffering from the same issue as other chapters around the country, our membership is getting older. In light of this, now more than ever, we want to try and bring younger blood into our midst, by making sure that riders are welcome, no matter what people ride. And folks who cannot ride anymore are still welcome to drive along with us. So please invite others to come along. With all of that said, I hope that we will see more of our chapter members at the Oregon District Rally at Silver Lake later this month. And please get ready and spread the word about this years End of the Trail Ride in July. See the attached flyer!! Till next month! Ride safe and keep the rubberside down! Alan & Cindy

Directors Corner... The Wall is in Pasco at the City View Cemetery on Oregon Ave. Mark Bridge,Gerry Davis, Marlis and I rode with the escort. There was at least 200 hundred bikes plus vintage military vehicles police and firefighters. It was an opportunity to see and speak with many Veterans and to thank them for their service Sadly, The Shiners poker run has been canceled due to conflicting rides.
