February 2018 Fairfield, CA Friends for fun, Safety & Knowledge CA2K CHAPTER DIRECTOR S BECKY & PAUL CARROLL As of this writing, Paul and I have just returned from the Officer s Conference in Bakersfield. We had a very productive meeting with our other Chapter and District families and came up with the 2018 goals for CA2K. They are as follows: 1 Chapter member involvement 1. Encourage chapter members to host socials. 2. Meet monthly for different chapter nights out. 3. Continue to encourage chapter member involvement in whatever way they want. 4. Attend as many CA chapter rallies as possible, especially in Northern CA. 5. Visit CA chapter get togethers, especially in Northern CA. 2 Have Fun 1. Chapter rides, both on motorcycles and in cars. 2. Plan multi-chapter activities. 3. Spend chapter funds on our chapter members and make events affordable for all. 4. Continue to bring new members with new ideas for recruitment. Welcome to Chapter CA2K of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA), the world's largest single-marquee social organization for owners and riders of Honda Gold Wing motorcycles. We are located in Fairfield, Ca. which is nestled between the Mendocino National Forest to the north, Pacific Ocean to the west, Sacramento and Lake Tahoe to the east, the San Francisco Bay area to the south and nestled next to the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma, we are truly Gold Wing Country, Some of the greatest riding roads in the US. We are dedicated to our Motto: Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge! GWRRA members enjoy the freedom of belonging to a Non-Profit, Non- Religious and Non- Political organization

3 Education 1. Participate in training days presented by the District Ride Coordinator. 2. Encourage chapter members to continue advancing in rider levels program. 3. Communicate with members and District on education that is wanted/needed by the members. 4. Participate with other Northern CA chapters to provide motorist awareness. While coordinating our goals with those of the district, several of the Northern California CD s got all excited about a multi-chapter ride over a weekend. We looked at the calendar and picked August 3-6, 2018. The prospective agenda is as follows: Day 1 arrive in Redding (via which ever route is best for the chapter location) by 11:30AM for lunch. CA2R will then lead the group on a route through the Trinity Mountain Range from Redding through Weaverville to Yreka, CA where we will stay our first night. Day 2 will take us from Yreka to Gold Beach, Ore., a nice ride over the mountains, where we will spend the night. Day 3 we will take the jet boats on the 3 hour historic mail run, have lunch and then head out to the Eureka, CA area for our last night stay. Folks can then head home via 101 and Avenue of the Giants or can head home on a route of their choice (either from Gold Beach or Eureka). We are hoping that members from all seven Northern California chapters will participate. More to come via email over the next few weeks. We will continue with our Pizza Nights, after chapter rides, and gatherings to increase the comradery of our members with new experiences. So we welcome everyone to come out to any and/or all upcoming CA2K events and join us for the fun. SPECIAL NEWS! Jeff at Mach 1 Motorsports wants everyone to know that he is offering discounts on all models of the all-new 2018 GoldWing! *********************************************************************************************************************************** wing nut RECEPIENT OF THE MONTH!! Well, looks like we may or may not have had a lucky recipient for January, I wasn t able to find out who it was. Of course, I am not sure exactly how hard I tried. So maybe we can go for a double in February! Let s keep our eyes and ears open, to see what someone can come up with next month. So watch and see who may end up here next month. I am sure there has to be a or some lucky recipients out there somewhere! ********************************************************************************************************************************** It pays to play with CA-2K Chapter Meeting Monthly Drawings Each month we have several drawings: Chapter Pride, if you wear your GWRRA Chapter colors you will receive a ticket for a $10 drawing. If you are a guest of CA2K you will receive a ticket for a door prize. We usually have some nice door prizes, especially, Rene s cake, usually some cookies and other goodies.

He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want." Again, the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The engineer said, "Look I'm an engineer, I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool." What kind of motorcycle is this?

SECRET PROJECT From the desk of Lennie The National Transportation Safety Board, recently divulged they had covertly funded a project with the U.S. auto maker for the past five years, whereby the auto makers were installing black boxes in four-wheel drive pick-up trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash. They were surprised to find in 49 of the 50 states, the last words of drivers in 61.2 percent of fatal crashes were Oh, S T. Only the state of Alabama was different, where 89.3 percent of the final words were, Hey Y all, hold my beer and watch this. ****************************************************************************************************************************8 Buy a Dog From the desk of Lesley If you want someone who will bring you the paper without first tearing it apart to remove the sports section. Buy a dog. If you want someone willing to make a fool of himself simply over the joy of seeing you Buy a dog If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never says it s not quite as good as his mother made it Buy a dog If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want Buy a dog. If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies Buy a dog. If you want someone who is content to get up on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores Buy a dog. If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually Buy a dog. But, on the other hand, If you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness... Then... Buy a cat...
