#RPTC2019 TRAINING CONFERENCE November 27 29, 2018 Minneapolis, MN
THE REALTOR PARTY is a powerful alliance of REALTORS and REALTOR Associations working to protect and promote homeownership and property investment. The REALTOR Party speaks with one voice to advance candidates and public policies that build strong communities and promote a vibrant business environment.
WELCOME to Minneapolis! Welcome to Minneapolis Land of 10,000 Lakes and Minnesota Nice, as well as home to the Mall of America and Rogers Nelson, otherwise known as Prince! Minneapolis is so much more than a chilly northern city. It s full of life and ambition, with a storied past and a bright future very much like our own REALTOR Party! The REALTOR Party comes alive with our stories of advocacy and community involvement. These stories, powerful and inspiring, are stories of how the REALTOR Party is a force to be reckoned with at all levels. At this conference, we ll develop ways to Own Our Story and make sure it s told, and told well. No doubt, our ability to articulate the REALTOR narrative effectively will play a huge role in the future of our businesses and our associations. For the first time, this year s REALTOR Party Training Conference goes beyond just the state and local advocacy components of our organization and brings in the federal parts, as well. We work at all levels to advance the REALTOR Party issues from county boards and city councils, to state legislatures to the Nation s Capital. So, it makes perfect sense to bring the federal aspect of our advocacy work into this training conference. This year s gathering is special for another reason, as well. It kicks off an important celebration the 50th anniversary of the REALTORS Political Action Committee. While RPAC certainly is one of the most powerful PACs in America, we like to think that RPAC also stands for REALTORS Participate Advocate and Celebrate! So, here in Minneapolis, let s get this party started! Most importantly, this conference is a chance to come together, share ideas and learn from each other. Our advocacy and community outreach efforts are based on good communication, coordination and trust. You are the ones who set the tone for this. You are the ones who set the pace. We need your talents and expertise every step of the way, starting now. Don t just attend this conference. Participate in it! Own it! And Own Your Story! Thank you for your willingness to serve as a REALTOR Party leader. We look forward to our time together here in Minneapolis and to a successful year with you. REALTOR Party Gives Back We have partnered with Toys for Tots Twin Cities to collect toys for children in need this holiday season. Bring a toy or purchase one at the Mall of America and drop it off at the collection table in the Radisson Blu anytime throughout the conference. Help us meet our goal of 500 toys! Can t bring a toy or don t want to shop? Make your check payable to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation or if your contribution is cash we will go shopping for you! Toys for Tots began in 1947, when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. The idea came form Bill s wife, Diane. In the fall of 1947, Diane crafted a homemade doll and asked Bill to deliver the doll to an organization, which would give it to a needy child at Christmas. When Bill determined that no agency existed, Diane told Bill that he should start one and he did. The 1947 pilot project was so successful that the Marine Corps adopted Toys for Tots in 1948 and expanded it into a nationwide campaign. That year, Marine Corps Reserve units across the nation conducted Toys for Tots campaigns in each community in which a Marine Reserve Center was located. Marines have conducted successful nationwide campaigns at Christmas each year since 1948. The initial objective that remains the hallmark of the program today is to bring the joy of Christmas to America s needy children.
