The three states include: New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The sound that borders Connecticut is the Long Island Sound. ~Using the map above write the initials of Connecticut (CT) on the correct state using a blue marker or crayon. With a green marker or crayon label the state of New York (NY). With a purple marker or crayon label the state of Massachusetts (MA). This predatory insect is most often green or brown in color. It is known for its stealth as it patiently waits for its prey. It will wait perfectly still with its front arms together (like it is praying) for the moment it will strike. Connecticut s state flower is the Mountain Laurel. It is also called spoonwood because Native Americans would make spoons from its wood. These gorgeous flowers are pink and white and star-shaped. This evergreen shrub has been the official flower since 1907.
