Singita Lamai Location of Lamai Triangle [A] Singita Mara River is located on the northern banks of the world-renowned Mara River in the Lamai triangle, celebrated for its annual wildebeest migration crossings. The triangle covers 40,000 hectares (98,000 acres) of the northern-most tip of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, slotted between the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya in the north and the Mara River in the south. Distinctive soil composition results in one of the highest year-round concentrations of wildlife in the Serengeti National Park. Location of Singita Mara River [B] Singita Mara River consciously seeks to eliminate the unnecessary use of energy and nonbiodegradable materials. In keeping with this, the camp is off-the-grid and relies entirely on a customdesigned solar power array and uses recycled and natural materials. Bohemian chic sets the tone for cool, relaxation. What you need to know Best time to go on Safari East Africa is equatorial so the climate is fairly constant and it is a year-round destination. Tanzania has a light rain season from November to March. This period is known as the short rains, often no more than a quick downpour each day, followed by clear sunshine. From December to March the weather becomes increasingly warmer with the long rains occurring between April and May. It s advisable to avoid white and dark colours as they tend to attract certain bugs. No formal wear is required at any of our lodges. Seasons dictate comfort and comfort dictates clothing, so we recommend that you pack as follows: October April: Casual summer clothes (shorts and cool shirts) and a light sweater/fleece for the cooler morning and evening temperatures May September: Casual light clothing and a light sweater/fleece for the cooler mornings and nights It is a good idea to bring along the following items for a carefree safari: Comfortable walking shoes/track shoes/hiking boots for walks; and sandals to wear around the lodge Swimming costume/bathing suits, sun block, sun hat, sunglasses, lip balm, mosquito repellent. What you need to know Health Requirements Singita Mara River is in a malarial zone so it is essential to ensure that you consider taking appropriate prophylactics. Yellow fever is present in Tanzania and inoculations are compulsory prior to entering East Africa. We recommended that you consult your doctor/physician before travelling. As the Lamai triangle forms part of the Mara eco-system, you will experience year-round concentrations of resident plains game, big cats, elephant and enormous populations of crocodile and hippo in the Mara river. All flights land at Serengeti Lamai airstrip located approximately a 45 minute game drive from the camp.
