oct 2018 vol 25 issue 7 Est. 1888 A monthly publication of the Hog Days Wrap-up! The morning of the Hog Day Stampede began a rainy, wet day. Undeterred, volunteers, runners, and spectators showed up for the 42nd annual running. More than 750 people participated in the 3 events, with many signed up/no shows due to the often-times torrential downpours. This is the largest non dues revenue event held by the Chamber. Each year it is held to help keep our office operational. To view the results of this year s race, log on to www.kewanee-il.com and click on stampede results under the events tab. The Chamber thanks the stampede sponsors for another great event. Sponsors include Breedloves Sporting Goods, Community State Bank, Kewanee Physical Therapy & Rehab specialists, OSF Healthcare - St Luke Medical Center, and the Star Courier. Other contributors include Illinois National Guard, WalMart, State Bank of Toulon-Kewanee Banking Center, Pizza Hut, Royal Oaks Care Center, and YMCA of Kewanee. The Chamber also thanks all the participants and folks who come out to watch and encourage the runners! Overall Winner this year was John Sullivan from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a time of 23.56. Top finishers from Kewanee were Damon McArthur and Chrissy Vandevelde. It may have rained on the runners, but the sun shone bright for the Parade! The parade topped out at 93 entries with the following bringing home awards: Ambassador Cup - Peoples National Bank Sweepstakes - Kewanee Care Home - Petersen Healthcare Commercial - Union Federal Savings & Loan Not for Profit - Holy Trinity Church Most Original - State Bank of Toulon Katie Johnson Spirit Award *New Award - First Baptist Church Thank you to the large crowd who came out to watch the parade and to all the participants in the Stampede and Parade. They were also rained out of all action on Thursday and Saturday. Many of the open cockpit planes watched for clear opportunities and flew home early from the annual event. 113 E.
