I was very surprised to drive home from the April meeting in a snow storm. That just isn't right! The roads weren't bad, but we passed through a few white-outs that affected visibility. Hope that's the last of the white stuff! The latest issue of Classic Motorsport has a small article about a company that will be producing new TR6's. The disappointing problem is that they will be battery powered. This company must not realize that sound is a big part of driving a sport car. Can you imagine driving a TR6 that sounds like a golf cart? Most people I've talked to love the music their Triumphs put out, and it's one of the reasons they drive them. The Columbus British Car Day will be next month. This year it will be the first show of the season. It is a well-run show, and I hope to see many of you there. Our next meeting is at Chester Tavern on May 4, 2018. Hope to see you there! Roger IMPORTANT: All material published has been contributed by NCTA members and other interested parties. The council will next meet May 14 at the Western Reserve Academy to do a walk-through for insight where everything will go 4. Multiple letters were sent out looking for sponsors for the show. We had one person step up and give a donation, Daryl Wagner of Automotive Artistry. This will help keep costs down for such things as port-o-potty and awards. We will be in need of volunteers from all clubs in order to make this a successful venue. We will have a sign-up sheet at the next two NCTA meetings. Remember, this is different from the past as we only ask that volunteers do a two-hour shift. They will be listed on the sign-up sheet and please write your name under which shift you would prefer. Got&a&question&or&two?&Just&send&an&email&to&Dick&Birch,&Membership&Secretary&at&birchtr6@gmail.com English Facts The custom of toasting as we know it today originated in medieval England. Back then, the clinking of glasses was accompanied by the exclamation Waes Haeil, Middle-English for Be Well. The word toast in the context came along in the 17 th century, when pieces of spiced, toasted bread were placed in drinks, perhaps to enhance their flavor. In medieval England, commoners were forbidden to cut down trees for fuel, and were left to search for wood felled by storms. Finding a fallen tree or a wind-fall was a great stroke of luck Mary Kasper

The Roadster Factory Flea Market You may have noticed in The Roadster Factory ads an announcement for a Flea Market at the Armagh facility on June 2nd. Charles has extended an invitation for anyone to set up for sale British parts along with his scratch and dent panels and other wares at this one-day event. Beer and food will be provided. Our club, The Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association, will be participating in this endeavor and will be setting up our tent for our members to display any parts and related stuff for sale. One can also display from a car trunk or a ground tarp. Let it be noted that this will also include cars for sale. We just wanted you to be aware of this event and to encourage your members to join in with us in this flea market. It should be fun to sell, buy or just mingle. Our club had been considering a flea market for some time and Charles has enthusiastically welcomed us as he has too. Submitted by Doug Karns, email from PJ Wright Kastner Cup 2018 July 7th is the date for the 16th running of the Friends of Triumph (FOT) Kastner Cup. Check out the web site http://www.pvgp.org/drivers/kastner-cup for complete details and history of this great event. Last year there were about 40 Triumphs racing for the Cup and this year it s looking like a repeat performance right here in our back yard as a part of the PVGP Historics at Pitt-Race. Check out the video of last year s race on the website. The track is a short distance from NE Ohio, just east of the Ohio line and minutes off the PA Turnpike at the Route 18 exit. Jim Dolan and his sons are this year s local organizers who also happen to own both the 1972 Group 44 and Kastner Brophy GT-6s. These are the real cars with history, not tribute cars. Nice that they are still around and being raced. If you are going to The Mitty in Atlanta the GT6 s will be there. Stop by and say hello to Jim and his sons. Don t miss the Group 44 at full song on one of Road Atlanta s long straights, you ll never forget it. The PVGP is run and organized by volunteers to raise money for two important local charities. I am working with PVGP and Pitt-Race to secure a Triumph Car Corral adjacent to FOT Central for attendees who drive their Triumph to the event. What could be better than preferred Triumph parking close and personal with the race cars and the Drivers who always enjoy discussing their race car with spectators? On this day, nothing could be better. I may have a few surprises in store for those spectators who choose to park in the Triumph Corral. FOT Central will be a large white tent where event awards be held including the cup presentation immediately after the all Triumph feature race concludes on Saturday afternoon. All Triumph enthusiasts are welcome and encouraged to attend. I have a few Posters, while they last and Tee Shirts are available. Call 330-620- 4548 or email Jerry Van Vlack jerryvv@roadrunner.com to order a Tee Shirt. Shirts are pre-sale only. Jerry Van Vlack
