TRAIN AND VISIT BARCELONA
The Krav Maga Worldwide Barcelona Training Center Located on the "Mar Bella" beach, Krav Maga Wolrdwide Barcelona headquarters is the "Mar Bella" sports center. (Blue point on the map) Public transportation: SUBWAY: L4 (Yellow line) subway station "poblenou". Once in the station, walk 5 minutes direction to the sea. BUS : Bus Line 41, Mar Bella station. Bus stops in front of the center. For detailed bus and metro routes, check the metropolitan transportation web http://www.tmb.cat/en/home Private transportation: The "Mar Bella" sports center has a private parking lot with standard prices. However, weekends you can park free on the surrounding streets.
Airports, transportation Airports: The airport of Barcelona is "El Prat" BCN. It s approximately 8 to 10 kilometers from Barcelona and it s connected with taxis, a special service bus (AeroBus) and train. If you take a taxi expect 30. Aerobus, 3 ticket, stops in Catalonia Square (Plaza Catalunya), center of the city and a hub of public transport. Finally, we don't recommend train. TIP: Taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow painted. They are regulated by the "Taxi Metropolitan institute" and the price is the same for all taxis. Usually, you can see price per kilometer and baggage pluses in the rear window of the taxi, and taximeter is always on. All taxis have a license, and you can see the number painted in the doors of the taxi. AeroBus web: http://www.aerobusbcn.com/ Aerobus ticket reservation is not expected, you can buy it directly from the bus driver. Other Airports: If you come from Europe, cheap air companies land on Girona Airport (GRO). A bus service to Barcelona it s available outside the airport. Expect a 1 hour and a quarter trip on bus. Internet reservation is preferred in the bus company (Sagales) web. http://www.sagales.com/airport/?idioma=3 Transportation once in Barcelona: Barcelona isn't a big city, you can move walking and/or in public transportation without problems. Rent a car isn't necessary unless you go outside of the city. Inside the city you can see a complete public transportation map in the metropolitan barcelona transport web: http://www.tmb.cat/en/home Subway and bus works every day from 6h to 23h. In the evening hours there are a special bus service called nit bus (night bus) covering all areas of Barcelona. Furthermore, the subway service works all time the Saturday night.
Accommodation and other tips Accommodation: Barcelona has a lot of accommodation possibilities. Due the size of the city and the quality of the public transport, don't worry about the location of your hotel. You can reservation around Barcelona without problem to arrive to the Training center. You have a great variety prices to choose, from the most expensive hotels to the cheapest youth hostels. We recommend that you see online accommodation offers and choose the one you like, you will not have any problem. Tourism and security: Barcelona experienced tremendous growth since the 1992 Olympic Games. From 1992 to present day Barcelona has managed to combine wisely historic areas with the most modern buildings and entire neighborhoods. We invite all international students to discover Barcelona, his buildings, his people and his nightlife. Use your travel guides but here are a few tips: Mealtimes Mealtimes are a little bit later than in other countries. We usually breakfast light and made an important lunch between 13h and 15h. If you want to behave like Spanish don t expect dinner before 21h. You can lunch at bars and restaurants for 10-15 and dinner for 20. Tipping is not expected, but is welcome. If you are attending a KMW seminar you will be informed about pauses and meal times. Security Barcelona is usually a safe city, but you must use common sense (first rule of Krav Maga). Follow your travel guide security tips like don t draw large amounts of cash in the middle of the street, or avoid certain areas in the night. Nightlife Barcelona has a rich nightlife. You can enjoy with lots of restaurants, pubs and discos, every day of the week. But remember, be moderate. If you re attending to a KMW seminar, next day we expect the best of you without excuses.
Final considerations Do your best, and you will succeed If you are attending to a KMW Seminar, you will be informed by email about timetables, mealtimes and other considerations. Remember to carry all protection gear you have unless we say it's not necessary. There are bars and restaurants near the training center and you will have lunchtime to go, nonetheless, don t forget snacks and drinks for the seminar.
