Accommodations A Range of Options The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) categorizes hotels based on a combination of factors including average room rates, location and product characteristics. Currently, more than 50% of the hotels in Singapore are in the Mid-tier (3-stars) and Upscale (4-stars) Category. For the purposes of this bid, STB has sought hotel proposals that include options from mid-tier to up-scale affordable options to accommodate OMAE 2023 delegates in Singapore. Several of these are directly connected to the SUNTEC Convention complex (No need to go outside). Technical Tours TCOMS Deepwater Ocean Basin Facility Equipped with advanced wave and current generation systems that can simulate harsh ocean environments including those in ultra-deep waters in excess of 3km (10,000ft). The visit will give an overview of The Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore (TCOMS), highlighting its key features like its 60m x 48m x 12m ocean basin (and pit of 50m total depth), the 3D wave and current generation systems and state-of-the-art testing and simulation capabilities. The tour will also feature a demo of numerical and physical hybrid testing, showing how TCOMS overcomes the physical limitations of the ocean basin to capture realistic scenarios. Singapore Port and the Maritime & Port Authority Singapore s hub port is a complex stream of activity, handling a variety of cargoes at different terminals. About 30 million containers and 500 million tons of cargo are handled every year. The visit will include a tour of the Tuas Mega Port a major milestone in Singapore s next generation container terminal development with the long-term project, that includes four phases, targeted for completion in 2040. With construction of Phase 1 beginning in April 2017, the mega port is slated to open progressively from 2021. 15
