Waiting in Ambush on Kangaloon Road Other commitments forced Jenny and I to miss the start of the run, so we decided to intercept the cars on the run back over Kangaloon Road and get some photos as they passed. We sat by
Page 2 of 17 Glenquarry Cut Bridge for 25 minutes before deciding to go to the venue. As we drove off, we glimpsed the pack coming along behind us, so pulled over at Bong Bong Racecourse to get our photos. Southern Highlands atmosphere! Unknown to us, the group had experienced some very foggy conditions on the run down to Fitzroy Falls and back, as the above images from Marilyn Cox will attest. Leader of the pack
Page 3 of 17 The pack So we made a timely arrival at the Arms occupied two long tables in the main dining area. Our previous visit to the pub had not been a happy occasion, but this time things were much better. The food was good, and soon everyone was deep in conversation with those around them. The group eventually broke up some time after 2pm, with everyone happy with the day s experiences. Our thanks go to Peter and Carol Carpenter for hosting the occasion. Nice to see the Stag back. Page 4 of 17 Cambewarra Mountain Lookout 15/02/2017 After the run of heatwave conditions affecting NSW for so long, members were relieved to have pleasant summery conditions for the start of the outing to Cambewarra Lookout. Due to roadworks on Sheepwash Road, we went via Robertson to access Nowra Road. Peter Carpenter s swish brand-new Mercedes Benz Parramatta hat, which he just bought for $2 at Vinnies!
Page 5 of 17 Mechanical gremlins to a couple of the cars was the only impediment to a smooth journey up to the lookout. Kangaroo Valley was quite a bit warmer than the Highlands, and the Mini s temp gauge was creeping well towards the red by the time we arrived. Classic cars cross a classic bridge (Photo: Marilyn Cox)
Page 6 of 17 The view spectacular as always! We gathered inside the refurbished café for another round of our well established formula of good food and good company. Our thanks go to the Jarretts for organising another successful club outing. Footnote: I chose to return home via Sheepwash Road as I thought the roadworks wouldn t be a problem. We came to a stop near the Fitzroy Falls end and sat there for what seemed like a very long time while absolutely nothing seemed to be happening. We eventually turned around and came home via Moss Vale. It was certainly a wise move to avoid these roadworks on the outward trip!
Page 7 of 17 Brian Cox passed on the following interesting paper on the history (and personalities behind) some of the significant NSW roads, in particular those in the Macarthur area.

Page 13 of 17 Xmas in July Another outing that we are getting in early to advertise is Christmas in July. It's always a great day with a wide array of British and other cars, not to speak of Miles's shed full of his own collection - from Leyland buses to several Nash cars, a 'work in progress' Wirraway and so on. It's a shame more BEAC members don't come along, as they're missing a very worthwhile event.
