COMMODORE: SUE POMERLEAU 734.341.4517 suzipom@gmail.com Commodore Sue Pomerleau: Hey Sunseekers! February was an exciting month with our 2014 SSBC Ball honoring Commodore Al Drew and Lady Carolyn and the AYC weekend Put In Bay style! I hope you had the opportunity to attend both of these sensational events! The SSBC Ball committee did an outstanding job with the gorgeous decorations and all the details! Congratulations to Sunseeker of the Year, Joe McCracken! Joe has been an integral part of the club in so many ways and his hard work and dedication is much appreciated! Great job Joe! Congratulations to Vice Commodore Jeff Upholzer, Lady Teri, Point Place Boat Club, Grosse Ile Yacht Club and all the many helpers with the AYC Winery room! The room looked amazing and everyone had a fabulous time! It was great to have GIYC join us and our sister club, PPBC, this year! Nice job everyone! In addition to our SSBC Ball and AYC, Lady Bob and I also attended the Elba Mar Boat Club Ball and Great Lakes Steel Boat Club Ball in February. We will be attending the Ford Yacht Club, Bay View Yacht Club, and Monroe Boat Club Balls in March. We have a great time at all the events and enjoy representing SSBC! March will be another exciting month with our annual St. Patrick s Day party, incoming bus trips, and the Junior Sunseeker Easter Brunch! Hope to see all our members enjoying the club events and making memories! Special thanks to Membership Chairperson, Lady Jayne Jamison, for all her hard work with the renewals this year! If you have not received your Club Card yet, please see the bartender. Thank you to all our returning members and welcome to the club to all our new members! Thanks! Commodore Sue Pomerleau

VICE COMMODORE: JEFF UPHOLZER 734.775.7598 jeff@upholzer.com Greeting SunSeekers, We had a fun-filled and action-packed month of February. We kicked the month off with a fantastic Super Bowl party. Following that, the Ball Committee did a wonderful of putting on this year s SunSeekers Commodore s Ball, honoring Commodore Al Drew and Lady Carolyn. Once again, thank you to PC Al and Lady Carolyn for three wonderful years of service to our club. On the heels of the SSBC Ball came the AYC Ball in Perrysburg, Ohio. Our theme this year was Put-in-Bay and our room theme was the Put-in-Bay Winery. This year s event knocked it out of the park. All of the hospitality rooms, including our own, were off the charts. And the food and entertainment were outstanding. Thank you to everyone who helped out this year on the room design and construction, bartending, setup and tear down and food catering. Just to name a few, we couldn t have done it without Commodore Sue and Lady Bob, Lady Teri, Rear Commodore Chad, PC Scott Dunsmore, PC Derrick Ball, Dennis Stechschulte, Jason Klimowicz, Jen Gracia and Teri Prodan (the best chef ever!). You are all the best! The SSBC St. Patrick s Festivities is our next big event! Doors open at 3 pm and we will once again be featuring a menu of corned beef and cabbage and all the fixings. There will be a bagpiper and an Irish dancer providing hands-on lessons for traditional Irish dancing, followed by a DJ for the rest of the night. Be sure to be there and celebrate the IRISH in all of us! As in prior years, we will need help with putting up and taking down the tent, security at the door, and food donations. All of this goes towards your work hours, so please sign up to help! We are also starting the planning now for the SSBC Luau this summer. This year we will be hosting the event at Humbug Marina, and we are looking to make this an event that we see not only participation by Sunseekers, but also from our neighboring boat/yacht clubs and also the Gibraltar community. This is going to be quite an undertaking and we are going to need a lot of help on a range of committees. Look for more details on this coming out soon. I hope you are excited about this as I am. Upcoming events: 3/7 Karaoke hosted by Sandi LaFrance 4/18 - Children With Hair Loss Fundraiser 3/14 - St. Patrick's Festivities 4/25 - SSBC Spring Bus Trip 3/21 - Incoming Bus Trip 5/2 - Celeron Island Clean-up 3/27 - AYC Bowling Fundraiser 7/17-7/18 - SSBC Luau 3/29 - Jr. SunSeeker's Brunch with the Easter Bunny 8/8 - SSBC Dinghy Thingy 4/3 - Fish Fry See you at the club and on the docks! Vice Commodore Jeff Upholzer

REAR COMMODORE: CHAD GRONDA 734.717.3949 grondac@ewashtenaw.org Attention!!!! Attention!!!! This is now your Rear Commodore speaking. I would like to report the bar is in great shape, and we have been able to stay open every day so far this year. Thank you Bartenders! There is always room for more bartenders, though, so sign up for a slot on the club website in the Members Only section. If you aren t sure what all is involved in bar tending, contact me and I ll get you set up. The 2015 membership cards are now being distributed, so if you didn t pick yours up at the SSBC Ball then ask a club bartender for yours the next time you stop in at the club. As with last year, your membership card has been loaded with a $50 credit to be used at the club. Additional funds can be added to your card at any time via the bar register. Just ask your bartender. And don t forget to treat your card as you would treat cash. The balance on the card is lost if you misplace it. All of you college basketball fans, are you ready for March Madness? The SSBC clubhouse is the place to catch all of the action, so come on up to the club this month and watch some exciting college basketball. If college basketball isn t your thing, we ll also be showing exciting Red Wings hockey and Tigers spring baseball games on our four high-definition televisions. As always, we encourage ALL members to help keep the club clean. Please do your part whenever you are at the club. And we thank all those who can join us during the monthly clean-up nights. These are held the first Monday following the monthly membership meeting. These make a huge difference, so please stop up and help. Thank you for supporting SSBC and the bar, let s keep the good times Rolling. Rear Commodore Chad Gronda

FLEET CAPTAIN: MATT JAMISON 734.355.3088 mattjamison84@icloud.com Hello Sunseekers, I attended the AYC meeting on February 24 th at Detroit Beach Boat Club. The poker run schedule for 2015 is official. The dates are listed on the SSBC website and there is a flyer at the club. Mark your calendars and lets make this a good year for Sunseekers at the poker runs. We will be having a fish fry on Friday April 3 rd. Price is $12 in advance, before March 27 th, and $15 after. Included are fried fish, potato wedges, coleslaw, tartar sauce, rolls and butter. You must sign up at the club on or before March 27 th to get the advanced price discount. Limited tickets will be available at the door. A spring bus trip is planned for Saturday April 25 th. The theme is going to be Nashville SSBC. So dress up in your favorite country outfit new or old style. The bus will be leaving at 11:30am sharp and the club will be open at 10:30am. You must sign up and pay at the club by April 18th. Price will be $25 for members and $30 for non-members. The bus is limited to 50 people and should fill up fast. The bus will be heading north to Great Lakes Steel Boat Club and Seaway Boat Club. We will then head south to Detroit Beach Boat Club with a Mystery Stop in between. The bus will return to SSBC around 7pm. Beer will be included on the bus and there will be food at the stops. I have been in contact with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary about having a boater s safety class at SSBC. There has not been much interest at the club about having a long multi-day class that cost money, so we are going to be having a 1 day class which is free to attend! The class is called Suddenly in Command. This 3-hour boating safety primer is designed for those not generally at the helm, and will help you to be prepared with the basics in case of an emergency. The date for this class will be on Monday March 30 th 6pm-9pm. The class is open to members and non-members. For more information, email fleetcaptain@ssbc.us. Lake Erie is currently 98% ice covered and the Great Lakes as a whole are 85.4% covered. I recently took a flight over the lake and it is an amazing site. The good news is that we should have high water and spring is just around the corner. Water temperature is currently 32 F/0 C Stay safe, it s cold out there! Think Spring, Matt Jamison Fleet Captain
