Best of New England SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2016 Departures: 7:00 am South Charleston Community Center Day #1 After our morning departure, today will be spent traveling northeast to our first stop along our tour our hotel at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Somerset, NJ Day #2 Breakfast at our host hotel this morning before we depart for Brick Marketplace - Located on beautiful Newport Harbor. Take time for lunch (on own) in this beautiful sea-side marketplace, filled with shops, attractions and restaurants. Today, we will also tour Breakers Mansion - The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. Take a selfguided audio tour through this gilded age home and enjoy the views from this sumptuous estate, perched high on a bluff, overlooking the Atlantic. Visit the gift shop. We will have a fantastic Photo-Op at Cliff Walk. Step out onto this world famous coastal walkway (right outside the Breakers Mansion) featuring the natural beauty of Newport s shore line and the architectural history of the gilded age. We will enjoy a group dinner (included) before arriving at our next hotel; Bayside Resort, West Yarmouth, MA (3 Nights). Day #3 Enjoy breakfast before we depart the hotel this morning for a full day of tours in Nantucket. Enjoy a 1 hour ride aboard a high-speed catamaran ferry. Cruise to the unique Atlantic Isle of Nantucket. Depart from scenic Hyannis Harbor. Your guided tour of this Picturesque island,
well-known for famous sea captains and steeped in Whaling History (the setting for Moby Dick) will include historic lighthouses, pristine beaches, quaint cobble-stone streets, galleries, historic meeting houses, stories of famous residents and more. Time for lunch on own in Nantucket s picturesque, waterfront shopping area. Dinner is included this evening. Day #4 Be sure to grab breakfast at our hotel this morning. We have another full day of guided tours from Hyannis to Provincetown today. Today s tours include the Kennedy Memorial, St. Xavier s Church and the Hyannisport neighborhood of the Kennedy Compound. Travel Olde King s Highway dotted with historic Cape Cod architecture and New England Inns. See famous lighthouses, historic Windmills, the giant dunes of Truro, the Pristine Provincelands, and visit a Cape Cod Seashore Visitor s Center focusing on the interesting natural history of this unique area. There will be time in Provincetown to explore and have lunch on your own and time to shop at some quaint Cape Cod shops. Late this afternoon we will enjoy a Whale Watch Excursion - An exciting 3-4 hour cruise from beautiful Provincetown Harbor with the Center for Coastal Studies, the most interesting and detailed whale watch on the east coast. See up to five varieties up close and personal as the narration continues describing the action and identifying the whales. Tonight a New England Lobster Dinner Included w/ Entertainment - Dinner is followed by a fun-filled cabaret-style entertainment. Day #5 Enjoy a Deluxe Continental Breakfast at our host hotel this morning before we proceed north. Today we will meet our guide and depart for a Boston City Tour. In route, we will stop at Plymouth s historic waterfront to see the Plymouth Rock and the Pilgrim s landing site. Boston tour includes the USS Constitution (the oldest warship in the US Navy), Beacon Hill, the TD Garden, The Boston Common, Bunker Hill, Boston Public Garden, State House, Old North Church. Take time to explore the famous Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market filled with shops, carts of hand-crafted gifts and eateries. We will stop for dinner in Route to our next hotel, Fireside Inn & Suites, Gilford, NH - (1 Night) Day #6- Enjoy breakfast at our hotel before departing. Today we will see Squam Lake, the location of the On Golden Pond film. Hear about the history, geography, wildlife and enjoy the incredible scenery. Then it is on to North Conway Village. Get your cameras ready for a stop in one of New Hampshire's most charming villages. Take in the Austrian-style train station, crisp?, white church steeples and colonial era shops. Check out the yummy local food
products, Main Street cafés, hand-made crafts and antiques at Zeb s famous New England Country Store. Time for lunch on own. After lunch we will travel New Hampshire s most scenic roadway, Kancamagus Highway, filled with breath-taking, mountain vistas. Time for photoops. Capture great foliage shots!!! Soar to Loon's Summit on New Hampshire's Longest Scenic Sky ride! Board the four-passenger gondola sky ride and enjoy extraordinary scenery, while being carried to the 3,050-foot summit of Loon Mountain, in the heart of the New Hampshire's White Mountains. Day #7 Start your day with breakfast at our hotel before departing for Vermont s Little Grand Canyon (Photo-Op) as we pass through Quechee Gorge. Next stop is to see the Friesians of Majesty Tour and Show - Home to over 40 of the award-winning Friesian Horse breed, including several Grand National Champions. Interact with these beautiful horses in a guided tour of the European style barns & breeding facilities. Travel along Vermont s Scenic Route - 100 - One of America s most scenic routes as voted by American Travel Magazine.. A road cutting through the backbone of Vermont with spectacular mountain vistas around every corner! Stop in a 1946 New England Country Store, the Vermont Country Store, it is on the National Historic Register. It s like shopping in a museum with fascinating merchandise and New England antiques. Lunch is included today at the Historic Bryant House located at the Country Store. Dinner is also included tonight. We will stop in route to our hotel, the Microtel Inn, Dickson City, Scranton, PA (1 Night), for dinner (Included) Day #8 - Last day. Before we continue the last leg of our journey, we will enjoy a Deluxe Continental Breakfast at the hotel. Approx arrival home 5:00 pm.
