November 13, 2015 Students and Parents: Less than six weeks and counting! Senior Trip is almost here! The chaperones are looking forward to this special time with the students and want this trip to be one of the highlights of their years at GCHS. Now for some frequently asked questions: How much luggage may I take? You may take one suitcase and a carry on. Please see https://www.southwest.com/html/customer service/baggage/index.html?clk=gfooter CUSTOMER B AGS What type of clothes do I need to take? You will want to wear comfortable clothes to travel. Sweats are okay to wear, just no pajama pants or leggings. You need comfortable shoes to walk around Disney. Check the weather forecast...temperatures average low 70 s for highs and low 50 s for lows. Think layers. Shorts are to be closer to the knee than the buttocks (no running shorts w/ sliders). Tops should be modest (no sleeveless or low cut or midriff) Swimsuits ladies & guys should wear a modest one piece May I take my cell phone, I pod, DVD player, etc? Yes. However, remember that neither the school nor the chaperones will assume any liability for loss or damage of these items. How much money will I need to take? You will be responsible for breakfast each morning of the trip (we suggest packing Pop Tarts, breakfast/granola bars, etc. due to the expense of Disney food), any snacks, and whatever shopping you do while at Disney. What meals will be provided? You will be provided with Meal Coupons for the following meals: Lunch Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Supper Tuesday & Wednesday. We will eat as a group on Monday night @ Epcot. (covered in cost of trip) You will also be provided with $20 for supper on Thursday.
Where are we staying? We will be staying at Disney s Pop Century Resort Who are the chaperones? The chaperones for the trip are Miss Brandon, Mrs. Hartley, Mr. Lynn, & Mr. Hartley. Please carefully read attached itinerary for further information. Now for the basic rules of the trip: Students are to be punctual for all events. (This is crucial to meet our timelines!) Rooms, floors, and buildings (if housed in different buildings) of the opposite gender are off limits at all times. Loitering in front of rooms of the opposite sex is not appropriate. No one is to be out of their rooms after lights out time. Pranks are not appropriate and will not be tolerated. When out and about, students will be in groups of at least 5 at all times. It is required to be with a group of five always no exceptions. When you return to the resort in the evening, you are to go to your room. You know the expectations of the GCHS Student Handbook. These guidelines apply while we are on the trip (a school function). Parents, during the trip you may reach Mr. Hartley on his cell phone (704 747 0022) or call the school office (704 349 5020) and ask Mrs. Smith to contact him. Please note, it is important that you print out and indicate on the next page any changes or additions to medical information since filling out the 2015 2016 GCS Medical Information/Emergency Release Form. Also, if your child is under 18 years of age, you will need to print out the page titled Disney Non Emergency Medical Form and return it no later than December 4, 2015. After printing the next page, students and parents are to sign the enclosed Medical Information/Permission Form and return it to the high school office no later than December 4, 2015.. The remaining payment dates are November 20 and December 4. Hopefully this information has answered many of your questions. However, please feel free to email me at mbrandon@gastonchristian.org if there are other concerns. In His Service, Melissa Brandon Senior Class Sponsor

***** PRINT THIS PAGE ***** Disney Non Emergency Medical Form Currently on file, each student has a form giving permission for medical professionals to treat him/her in the event of an emergency. We take these forms with us on the trip. It has come to our attention that for non emergency medical care (strep, stomach bug, flu, etc), it is necessary for a separate form to be used in order for non emergency medical treatment to be given to students. This form is not necessary for students 18 years or older as they can sign for themselves. Disney uses DOCS (Doctors On Call Service), a concierge service that is available 24/7. Be assured that every measure will be taken to contact you in advance should any emergency or non emergency medical treatment be needed. If your student is under the age of 18, this form in hard copy must be returned no later than December 4, 2015. I give permission for a trip chaperone (Melissa Brandon, Parent/Guardian Name (print) Ashley Hartley, Adam Lynn, or Kevin Hartley) to make non emergency medical decisions on my behalf, concerning care for, between December 14 17, 2015.
