Edition 2 May 2016 Here we are in May already doing our second edition of the BCT newsletter. As you all know we are fully committed to all of our users and customers. Over the years we have not only learned as we have gone along but we have achieved many things during the 40 years we have been operating. If you look at the top left corner of this Newsletter, we have been awarded the FORS Bronze accreditation. This confirms that an operator, such as BCT, employs good practices and complies with the requirements laid out by the FORS standard. This includes demonstrating dedication to drivers and vehicles safety, combined with improving operating practices through effective monitoring of fuel and tyre usage. FORS is well recognised accreditation which demonstrates that the holding operator is able to comply with the standards of road safety for delivery of services. The accreditation is audited and reviewed by high qualify FORS Auditors annually. Now look at the right of this newsletter and we have been accredited The British Assessment Bureau ISO 9001. This certification is a Quality Management Standard. It suits all organisations large or small and covers all sectors, including charities and the voluntary sector. It aims to help organisations become structured and efficient. The middle logo is celebrating BCT s 40 th anniversary in Community Transport. We are very proud of our 40 year accomplishment in providing services in our community to those who require it the most. In this edition Take a trip to Kew Gardens for only 10!! Volunteering opportunities at BCT Like most successful charities we need people to help and work towards the day to day running of the organisation. If you have any spare time and would like to join us voluntarily please contact us by either, email, letter or telephone and we will gladly give you details. We are desperately looking for competent drivers. We are proud to be in a position to offer almost London living wage hourly rate. If you would like to join the BCT team or know of anybody who would like to, please send in a CV to hr@brentct.org.uk and we will be pleased to consider you. There are some very interesting places to visit in and around the Brent area, here are just a few which you may like to see and they are under cover. 1. Hendon Aerodrome Museum Situated on the historic site of Hendon s London Aerodrome in Colindale. This North London Museum is one of two sites belonging to the UK s only national museum that tells the story of the Royal Air Force through its people and collections. The collection in London include some very early aircraft designs through to the latest modern day jets and military aircraft. The museum is free and fully accessible. A car parking charge is payable. Opening hours 10am to 6pm. Address: RAF Museum London, Grahame Park Way, London NW9 5LL. Sat-Nav users please use postcode NW9 5QW. Tel 0208 205 2266. 2. London Design Outlet (LDO) is home to 70 outlets, restaurants and cafes as well as 9 screen Cineworld complex, in a vibrant, contemporary and cosmopolitan environment. It is the destination for outlet shopping, eating and entertainment in the capital and open 7 days a week. Great bargains from leading high street names, aspirational labels and lifestyle brands at outlet prices of up to 70% off RRP. Dine in relaxed and stylish surroundings. There is a play area for the children which is free and a train that goes around the outlet which is chargeable. 3. Tea Dance from, 1:30pm to 4:30pm at Grand Hall, Brent Civic Centre every Monday afternoon s except Bank Holidays. There is a charge. If you (or your group) require transport to any of the above places or you want to visit a place or person, BCT would be very pleased to offer you transport at our competitive prices. We are very proud to announce at the end of 2015, BCT purchased and took delivery of a wheelchair accessible MPV vehicle. It is a 5 seater vehicle and is used for our door to door transport scheme, CCS. It has been fully functional since its delivery. 3
