1) NOTES Proposed Changes: At this time, the Corporation expects to implement a change to the existing service prior to the commencement of the new Route Agreement for Route No. 81. From 28 th May 2011, one additional Mondays to Fridays AM peak flow journey ex Hounslow Bus Station between 0645 and 0745 is specified. From 25 th June until provisionally September 2011, buses will no longer set down and at stop BP5407and pick up at stop BP4157 at Slough Bus Station. Buses will temporarily set down at stop OC474 in Wellington Street, stand in Slough Bus Station and pick up at stop OC473 in Slough Bus Station. From provisionally September 2011, buses will set down, stand and pick up at Slough Bus Station. In addition, the routeing to Slough Bus Station will revise as the Wellington Road roundabout is being removed and the road layout will alter slightly. Full details of this are not yet known. From 6 th August 2011, Route No. 81 is restructured ex Slough Bus Station to operate via Slough High Street at all times. The routeing from William Street via Wellington Street to Uxbridge Road roundabout during Mondays to Saturdays after 2000 and all day Sundays will no longer operate. Please see section 5 for a full list of streets traversed. Please note, Section 5 reflects the temporary stopping and standing arrangements for Slough Bus Station which take effect on 25 th June 2011 as full details of the new permanent stopping and standing arrangements are not yet known. Tenderers should note that the following alterations (subject to consultation) are proposed as part of this Service Specification for introduction with the new Route Agreement: 87 capacity, dual door, double deck buses are required for capacity reasons and therefore smaller buses are not acceptable. Sunday shopping period frequencies are increased from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes. Requirements for Registration: The section of Route No. 81 between Slough Bus Station and the Slough County Boundary at the junction of Bath Road and the M25 motorway will need to be registered with the Traffic Commissioner for the Western Traffic Area 56 days before the operation commences. 4) OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS 4.1) When compiling schedules Tenderers are asked to consider passengers making connections to other services at the following locations: Hounslow West Station. 4.2) Route No. 81 can suffer unpredictable traffic delays in the Heathrow and Hounslow areas. 4.3) Rising bollards have been installed in Slough High Street as of earlier this year. They automatically lower for buses. However, the traffic order will need to be amended to allow these to be active on evenings and Sundays once Route No. 81 operates via Slough High Street at all times (provisionally August 2011). 4.4) TfL is responsible for any departure charges associated with the use of Slough Bus Station. 4.5) The 2012 Olympic Games open on Friday 27 th July and close on Sunday 12 th August. The 2012 Paralympic Games start on Wednesday 29 th August and close on Sunday 9 th September. The Games will result in additional passenger demand across the network, requiring additional capacity on some routes. There will also be a number of road closures in the event areas resulting in route diversions.
