Sebastian Baumgardner, President (260) 908-2156 neverheardofhim@hotmail.com Sebastian Baumgardner I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful flying weather. Fall is always a great time of year for spectacular scenery. I would like to say how amazed I was by all the donations we received through Fritz Martin's memorial. I think Fritz would be very proud of this as well. Our annual Chili Fest is coming up on Sunday, October 22. More details will follow in our newsletter for October. Save the date and plan to join us for a fun fall get-together at the Hangar! I would also like to thank everyone for their continued support of our monthly breakfasts. Last month donations were some of the best we've had. Our next pancake breakfast is this coming Saturday, September 23. Our Fall Airport Cleanup Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, starting at 10am. Our spring cleanup day worked out very well with a good turnout. Please support our Chapter and our Airport in this important task. Thank you! The hard work and dedication by our volunteers is the key to our success. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated members. We are able to accomplish many things because of everyone's passion for the organization. Our next chapter meeting is Wednesday, September 27, at the Hangar. ~ Sebastian
Young Eagles David and Laramie Resler The 2017 Young Eagles Flight Rallies have concluded for the year. Here is a summary for VAA37: Ten pilots participated at GWB and flew a total of 147 at our rallies. There were two new pilots Andrew Gordon and Mark Oda. Nine of the pilots who flew kids at GWB have flown 10 or more Young Eagles this year and have earned YE credits from EAA. Frtiz was able to fulfill his dream of flying a Young Eagle at our May Rally. We all will miss him at our rallies and meetings. There were between 15 and 20 ground volunteers at each rally. The ground volunteers included some of our youth members. We were able to fly at ALL of our scheduled rallies. Our chapter sent Alan Resler to the Air Academy Basic Camp in June of this year. He had a wonderful and memorable time. He wants to go back to the Advanced Camp when he s old enough. Below is a thank you letter from Alan. Thank you to all who helped make this year a success!
