Short briefing at Evening (1300 meters) As you arrive at Tribhuvan International airport a representative from Peregrine treks will welcome you and drop you to the hotel after half an hour drive from the airport. You will have leisure time to rest. In the evening you will get the briefing about the trek from your guide and get prepared for the next day adventure. Day 02 Lukla flight and trek up to Phakding (2651 meters) 8 km distance, 3 hours trek You will have an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (Tenzing Hillary airport). This is the beginning point of all Everest trek. The other member of our team will join us from Lukla. Now our team gradually descends to Cheplung village from where you will get a close view of the sacred mountain peak called Mt. Khumbila, which has never been climbed. The trails gradually descend to Phakding where our team will stay overnight. Day 03 Trek to Namche (3440 meters) 11km distance, Approx. 7 hours After early morning breakfast, the trails continue towards Phakdine that passes through a pine forest along the Dudh Koshi River crossing the suspension bridge that seems to be decorated with a holy prayers flag. Now, entering the Sagarmatha national park we continue our trek to Jorasalle spotting the mani stones along the way. Lunch will be served here. Again the trails descend steeply upwards to Namche Bazar, a beautiful valley which is considered as the capital of Sherpa people from where you can have the very first appearance of the majestic mountain the Mt. Everest. Overnight in Namche Bazaar Day 04 Acclimatization day to avoid high altitude for coming days One more day in Namche Bazar will help you to be used to the high altitude as the oxygen gets thinning more and more in the high. It will be good for you to stay active then to take more rest for the next day adventure. You can go for a hike to the Everest viewpoint just above the Namche Bazar. Also can visit the Sherpa museum to get the information about the Sherpa culture, you can also see the footprint of Yeti in the museum and many historical and geographical information of the mountain and the people here. Day 05 Trek to Tengboche (3870 meters) 10km distance, Approx. 6 hours After early morning breakfast, we continue our trek to Tengboche along some descends and some ascend through the Rhododendron forests, the trails drop to Phungi Thanka where you will have your lunch. The trails now descend to Tengboche that provides you with the magnificent views of the different mountain like Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablm including Mt. Everest. Overnight at lodge Day 06 Trek to Dingboche (4360 meters) 9 km distance, Approx. 5 hours After early morning breakfast, the trail descends smoothly through the rhododendron forest. Today the trails are quite easy to compare to other days. Now you will cross the tree line spotting the mani stones and the coniferous forest admiring the view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Amadablam. The trail continues downhill to Dengboche crossing the Imja River to reach Pangboche for the lunch. Our walk continues after the lunch visiting the famous Pangboche monastery and the view of fabulous mountains will be along with you the whole day. We continue our walk to Imja valley now the trail literally ascends to Dingboche the beautiful village, which used to be summer settlement for yak grazing so you can view the yak grazing over the slope of the cliffs. Overnight in the lodge at Dingboche Day 07 Dingboche 2nd acclimatization day You start your day with the sunrise view between the majestic peaks. Though this is the day for the relaxation of your body we recommend you to stay active with moderate walk and hike. Here you can get the chance to know about the villagers and their unique culture and explore the beautifully cultivated field of barley, wheat, buckwheat, and potato. Overnight at lodge Day 08 Trek to Lobuche (4940 meters) 7 km distance, Approx. 6 hours After breakfast, we start our day with a moderate climb to Duglha at the end of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, which is a tiny village of a colorful strand of prayers flags hung across the valley. We continue our steep ascends to Chupki Lara that goes to Khumbu Glacier moraine where you can witness the leistering peaks like Khumbutse, Lingtern, Pumori and Mahlangu Himal. Then the trail follows the way to Lobuche where you will spend the night. Day 09 Trek to Gorakshep (5170 meters) and EBC (5364 meters) 13 km distance, Approx. 8 hours After breakfast, today we take the trail to Everest base camp, which is not very difficult. We continue our walk to some ascend and descend trails mostly on a glacier path. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high elevation. Passing the rocky dunes, moraines, and streams on the way we reach the Everest base camp. The beautifully stunning and the picturesque views of the majestic peak like Nuptse, Khumbutse, and Pumori will welcome you. After this heavenly experience, we get back to Gorakshep. Overnight at lodge Day 10 Trek to Kalapather (5545 meters) for sunrise view and fly back to Kathmandu by Helicopter Today we wake up early for the walk to Kala Patthar in the dark with cold temperature and chilly wind. After the moderate walk of 2-3 hour, we reach Kalapatthar. The view from the summit is adorable. Every peak is revealing in itself including Mt. Everest. After enjoying the magnificent mountain panorama we get back to Gorak Shep. We will take a helicopter ride from where you can explore the combined view of all the mountains from the skyline. We fly over the serene waters of the Gokyo Lake and the stunning lining view of the trails that you have trekked through. Physical Condition & Experience Requirements Everest Base Camp Trek and Fly Back by Helicopter is a moderate trek and it is suitable for enthusiastic hikers. The hiker must able to walk at least 5-6 hours per day with their light bag. In some days you need to walk 8-9 hours. You can see the detail in our itinerary. Hiking at higher altitude is more challenging than lower altitude; however, if you have good health with average physical fitness, optimistic towards hiking, strong strength of mind, you can finish this trek successfully. Technical skills and past experience are not required for this trek. However, jogging, simple exercising is highly recommended before 2 weeks if you have not previous hiking experience. If you have a heart problem, lung and blood diseases you need to consult with your doctor before this trek. Also, if you are elder or children, if you have poor physical fitness and still you want to trek to Everest Base Camp, you need to customize this trek. Best Time for the trek to Everest Base Camp The best time for Everest Base Camp Trek and fly back by helicopter is autumn (September, October, and November) and spring (March, April, and May). These two seasons the weather is sunny and warm and high possibility to see the clear mountain with your fresh eyes. In high altitude, nights are clod in all season. In winter (December, January, and February) cold is the big issue for a trekker. Other parts are quite good. EBC Trek in summer (June, July, and August) or monsoon will be affected by rain; but this season trekking is best for a botanist. Everest Trekking routes are crowded in the autumn and summer; but during winter and summer, the trekking routes are not packed.
